My gt405 from 3uk didnt come with windows live messenger or skype or google maps preinstalled as 3 phones usually do,
is there somewhere I could download them from or why it might not have come with them preinstalled, as implied by advertising the phone with skype and messenger written on the front?

i didn't think that LG were in the habit of letting other companies name their phones.

I actually looked at the specs on this site and they mentioned an S-Class interface and as this site had the most detailed specs at the time I decided to go for it.
Secondly I already have the original LG Viewty for a couple of years now so already know how good the camera is on it.
For those of you have have come on here for information....the phone is actually quite nice and slim and pleasant to use. The screen is bright and clear, the menu is an improvement on the KU990, the sound is better but as I said before the video camera is not as good. So it depends on what matters to you most. Also I've found that the battery seems to last longer on the GT405.

Just to add one more comment, this phone is described as the LG Viewty GT by 3. Don't be fooled into thinking that the video camera on this phone is as good as that on the original Viewty. The video camera does not have 120fps recording let alone 30fps. It looks more like 15fps.

I got this phone on 3 and discovered that it does not have the S-Class UI as the Arena or even the LG Pop. Also I tried to download Google maps on this phone and got the message back that the map application is not compatible with this handset. However I was pointed to the mobile web version.
As far as I can tell this phone is identical in look and menu system to the LG GT500 Puccini (see demo on you tube) except that there is no WiFi and also no camera flash. For a resistive screen the fluidity of the interface is not bad but I am disappointed as I was expecting the S-Class interface which looks much better.

it comes with Skype as standard on the 3 network in the UK.
