> In reply to cfm69 @ 2009-05-13 16:01 from vC0I - click to readwell there are many phones out there, that can access wifi, tho ive only had experience with phones due to i work in a call center. i have the following models w580 Ericson, LG shine and the BB 8100. ive had experience with the Bold due to my friend has it.

Other then the texture of the phone. the phone is great i love it im thinking of getting that model. tho i do like this phone aswell i got to handle it. only thing that i think the downfall of bold is that the buttons are to close together. other then this phone it keeps the same Keyboard characteristics such as there is spacing. so i know where my letters are on my phone. other then the bold i would have a hard time not looking at my phone while typing.

i would recomend this phone due to the battery life is a little better then the bold. and that its a little more smaller .

Now.. if you do activate a 2nd line( example with rogers) you are allowed a 30 minutes / 30 days policie. that if you dont use the full 30 minutes and you dont like the phone you can return the phone. I WOULD recomend that you get this at the store and not calling customer care cause it would take alot longer for us to get the phone back as opposed to if you got it at a store the agent can call their team and cancel the line immideately

Hope that helps out on your decision. mind you this is just compared to the BOLD 9000 VS 8900 Javelin.

> In reply to cfm69 @ 2009-05-11 23:39 from vC0I - click to readwith this phone even tho you dont have a data plan you can still acess WIFI. the thing is if your looking for the Application MSN/ YAHOO, this is where your gonna run into problems. due that is a application it would require the data plan and wont let you log in.

If your under the wifi, you can always try going on websites such as ebuddy.com, iloveim.com ( not sure about the iloveim, but Ebuddy works great) thats the only way i know how to acess msn/yahoo when i dont have the messenger available to me.
Hope this helps you a little more on your decision.

And if your going with Rogers we do have a v

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-05-11 11:23 from NauI - click to readConnect to Wi-Fi network:

Press Menu button and click on Set Up then click on Set Up Wi-Fi (Some options may be different depending on the model of Blackberry and version of operating system. But needs to go in Set up Wi-Fi option)
Or
Click on Manage Connections and then scroll down and click on Set Up Wi-Fi Network
Click Next and then click on Scan for Networks
If your Wi-Fi radio is OFF then it will prompt to Turn Wi-Fi on, Click on Turn Wi-Fi on and it will search for available Wi-Fi networks and will show the list of available Wi-Fi networks Click on your Wi-Fi network, you want to connect to. If that Wi-Fi has WEP encryption set then it will prompt you to add Network Key.

Follow the prompts and later you will see Connection Successful and if you want to save it as Profile. Follow the prompts and click on Finish. That’s it. You are now connected to Wi-Fi. On your BlackBerry Home screen you will see your Wi-Fi network name besides your Wireless Carrier’s Name

> In reply to JK @ 2009-05-11 11:20 from u1ti - click to readTo start with, if it says UMA on your home screen then your BB is attempting to connect through Rogers TalkSpot instead of the EDGE network. If you don;t have TalkSpot on your plan, then go into Manage Connections > Mobile Network Options and make sure Data is set to ON and your Connection Preference is set to Mobile Network Only. This ensures your data will go through the Rogers BIS Network.

Now you should see "EDGE" where it used to say UMA. This means you're connected to Rogers BIS. If it says "edge" then Rogers hasn't added a BlackBerry Plan on your account and you must phone them.

and also
Options > Browser Configuration > Browser > Hotspot Browser.

Hi Friends,

I never used BB before. I love BB Curve 8900. I am using prepaid services and was wondering can i use Blackberry straight away with this SIM/connection/prepaid without actually getting BB services from my phone provider.

Thanks for your help.
