Does anyone know, the hd t8285 it is a telstra model, if it is unlocked will it work on any other carrier eg. virgin mobile? I have been told that even if unlocked it will only work with telstra?

The screen sensitivity is affected by the calibration parameters. I have a custom ROM setup and the screen is as smooth as my Wife's iPhone4 screen.
Though probably good for most people, my experience is the standard ROM harms this good device as it is full of telco bloatware and is running the WM 6.5 which is not very finger friendly (Originally designed for stylus use).
Check www.xda-developers.com HD2 forum for a good selection of custom ROMs running newer versions of WM (6.5.x) and HTC Sense. I have personnally used EnergyROM, Elegancia and Chucky - they're all good, though my look'n feel preference is for EnergyROM.

The T8285 os more or less the T8282 (normal Touch HD) however for the Australian market, or countries which use the 850MHz band for 3G, instead of most of the world who use 900Mhz. I'm still not sure if the radio can be reflashed to use the 900MHz band for 3G.
