Why were the first blogs and news sites to report this phone stating an 8/23/09 release and now the text on the sites has either been revised or there is no further detail on this phone? Did Verizon or LG issue some kind of gag order?

As the earlier poster pointed out, it's less than 0.5" longer than an iPhone, and it's lighter too, so hold your horses, about it being too long, pocket refitting, or just stop buying kids clothes ;)

Looks like a cool phone. I hope texting would be great because its so wide and characters can be big.

we have been overwhelmed by cheap technology and the lack of support.
i would prefer iphone for one reason :
support, software& firmware updates bringing features, community softwares, sleek and real time touch response.
while LG, Samsung , what so ever ( except nokia they pay attention to SW) they use symbian which is owned by nokia, so you can guess who produce better phones .. with support

I wouldn't be self-conscious in the slightest if I had this phone. The bigger the better (especially in the case of the touchscreen).

Yeah this phone is huge, it's got a great screen and all but I don't even know if this thing would fit in most pockets, and talking on it must be awkward. No word on the text input interface. Wouldn't it be great if this thing was offered through an American service provider for a reduced price...
