Benchmark for OpenGL ES Devices
43. SonyEricsson XPERIA X1i 92 Frames 800 x 480 2008.08.12
Conclusion Winmo is not very good at this stuff.

someone asked if any sony ericsson could do this. i believe the x1 xperia (it has a graphics chip and a 528mhz Qualcomm processor) has WinMo OS on which it was possible to play Quake 3 as far back as 2005. back then it was too slow due to the limited processors, but now it should be possible.

Maybe Nokia want to make money out of N-gage by making their handsets unable to run applications like this.
After all Nokia's primary purpose is to make money.
It makes good business sense.

It would easily be able to run Quake III if it was ported to OSX and licensing arrangements were worked out with ID, a developer who did it would get 70% of revenue and would not have to beg for Paypal donations.
I guess this is why developers are flocking to this platform in droves.

So what Nokia has done is ..made all these Games for the 'old' N-Series devices and not the NEWS ones.......
Now we see on Nokia's roadmap that there making the Touchscreen Phones now..
so people will be going for them instead of N95, N82, N95 8GB......
DAYUM!!!!!

N85, N96 and the new handsets will NOT WORK!!!
Nokia, in their stupid wisdom, have LEFT OUT the 3d hardware acceleration chip (PowerVR) from these new models. There is NO WAY that this game will run.
check out these 3d benchmarks, the N85 and N96 are MILES down the chart.
BIG MISTAKE by Nokia, considering the N95 8Gb, E90 and N82 all have the same 3d chip as the iphone. Why take it out on the new phones?!

Yes it is the computer version. You need to install Quake 3 to a compatible computer then copy the BASEQ3 folder to the mass memory and place it in the folder you make called "Quake3". You just need the .PK files to run it. It runs rather well on the N95 8GB minus a bit of menu lag in sound and performance. The game play is rather good for the Version 1 release. You can choose to enter the CD Key at startup or just play the few demo levels if you have the pk file in there, if you don't have the folders or files on the mass memory it'll just sit idle when you try and open it.
