HTC Touch Pro2 review: Out with a pro

HTC Touch Pro2 review: Out with a pro - read the full textAmid talk of Android and would-be heroes we're about to revisit HTC on their hallowed PocketPC ground. Good things seem to come in pairs for the company while out-and-out upgrades are always good news for...

Can you confirm that the HTC touch Pro 2 will run Coreplayer?

It's just Coreplayer website says 1.36 version (latest) not compatible with Qualcomm 7200 chipsets (HTC TP2 is QC 7200A)

I don't want to waste $29 on coreplayer if it won't install - but I need a Divx player app

Wicked phone so far! Hate that they didn't include an 8GB in this one like they did with the HD...but I guess at least we got a nice cover.

Sorry to say but after playing with the iPhone and then owning this one I have to say that it kinda blows the iPhone away a bit. The only thing the iPhone really has going for it is it's screen (quite a pleasure to use as a pure touch phone). Sadly our country can't access the apple store, we have to (and that's HAVE TO) install iTunes before even starting the damn thing up and then we're limited and controlled by Apple (I love Sony but I also hate how friekin' "Dis is mine and you can not change it" they have to be).

Anyway - a very nice change from that useless bloody aging Symbian (and this from my last three phones being Nokias).

My only question is, I see in the Spec sheet that it has Wifi, but will it have Wifi once TMobile gets their hands on it? We all know how much TMobile loves to strip the Wifi off could be great devices. Any info would be helpful. Thanks.

> In reply to Cawan @ 2009-07-15 09:20 from PUAsI had held both devices in my hand and N97 just feels like cheap plastic. Hand down to Touch pro2. You won't regret.

i did a live demo of the Pro2
i loved it bcoz i love windows mobile and this is the best ever however i found these drawbacks
heavy
touch screen still far behind the I phone
the camera is modest
the calender is so primitive..
No major advanntage in the the new OS
the processor is still slow..

So if you are a windows mo user this is the best till now

> In reply to Gadgetz @ 2009-06-30 11:09 from wr9INot sure why you even considered TP2 if camera is so important because other than the camera and internal memory, the TP2 is many times the superior to N97 in terms of hardware. Software on the other hand is a matter of preference. So if camera is so important then take N97. If better keyboard, bigger screen are more immediate priorities, then the TP2.

It's available in Indo with price approx USD 875, compared to N97 only USD 775. I'd really love with Touchpro2 design, but too bad that there are no flash in the camera. Really need to test the quality of the camera, otherwise, I'd be better off to choose N97...what do you think.??? =)

I live in Europe and here Touch Pro2 is about 50$ cheaper then N97. I will probably buy it, because it has Windows Mobile, but if you are not a fan of Windows Mobile N97 might be a better solution.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-06-19 13:05 from jSe0I would say, if you're not a power user, and really don't want to spend 800 on a phone but you want a full QWERTY slide out keyboad, the N97 should be a better bet. Do bear in mind the Touch Pro 2 has a larger screen, higher resolution screen and a better keyboard. The N97 compensates with bigger internal storage and better camera. So other than price it depends on personal preference.

I heard the touch pro2 will be running at $800.00 unlocked of course, for me, that's a bit much. I just purchased a high end 4GB RAM (450GB memory) notebook for $700 with loads of other features. I was looking forward to this phone, but the price is so damn high. I look forward to the Nokia N97 in a few months then. I can wait. there is a site that use some good info about the touch pro2, http://www.AllTouchPro2.com i want to hear what your view is on this smart phone.

you mention that it only have about 300mb memory, and memory card should be recommended, which seems very reasonable. however, i'm unable to find if it can use 16gb microSDHC or only up to 8gb. have you tried, or can you try, successfully with a 16gb card?

> In reply to DENNY LEE @ 2009-06-07 18:56 from tDFFDepending on where you are, the phone is already available for sale. Very pricey compared to N97 which is surprisingly cheap for the specs. I wouls say retail price maybe 150 to 200 US$ cheaper than the Touch Pro 2.
If you're in the US, the reason its slow is due to the structure of the market. Usually new phones are "distributed" or "sold" through carriers. Subsidized phones are nice but some consumers prefer to buy retail versions. Hence why its still not in the US and why its available in some markets.
