Nokia E55 review: Five by five - read the full textSometimes, a phone is nearly perfect, except for that one small thing you want to change. If you felt that way about Nokia E52, the E55 claims to have the answer. Don't get us wrong - the E52 has killer looks and specs. And the E55… well, like we told you, it's the same phone save for that one little thing.

i am using this phone for about a year. and i will say that camera=nothing, UI is good, battery is very good, and the music is very very good, better then nokia 5800. but it has a problem, if you paused a song and you get a call, this nokia will play the music after call ends )) have fun!

The build quality is not the best, but its better than the most phones around the market. Its maybe to plastic in my opinion. The hardware is ok for a bussines phone. The OS on the phone is excelent and fast. The camera is rubish! i love this phone but the cam is the biggest minus on the phone (the pictures are like on 6 year old phones). The sound is very good and definetly the best from the e series i heard(but the phones in the package are rubsih, buy new). Fast, good built phone with rubish camera and good sound. If you dont need a cam, and you are listening music only on the way to work or school than thats the right phone for you!

Great Hardware, Rubbish Software, mine lags alot,
freezes, screen is burnt from using the GPS,
every-time i charge it, the theme changes colour,
sometimes the music player volume doesn't work.
and now it wont let me add any more songs to its library...even if i delete some!!!

when this dies im going apple or htc.

with that said this IS my fave nokia ever, battery is great and keyboard is sweet....once you get use to it the regular ones will just be slow

BUT they need to get rid of every button on face sept the keyboard and put a nice 3' touch screen in it. then replace the S60

Battery..battery..

I've had this phone now for 2 weeks.

The battery is showing 1/3 left. That was the argument for buying it, and so far, it's worth the money.

The rest: State of the art Nokia = Rock solid!

> In reply to TruthSeekr @ 2009-09-21 22:22 from 9Ktx - click to readMy friend, T9 is not bad if you're writing messages only in one language. I'm writing messages in 3 different languages everyday, that's why I need 'hard keyboard' to input text fast.

I'm sure Nokia E72 will be a bit better than my E71. However, I'm not a gadget man just to change 'for a new model' and I don't really make photos with my phone. Between E72 and E71 there's no major improvement or revolution. However E55 seems to be ineteresting, as it may save few grams in the pocket and offer similar functions than two above.

After all, it's just a question of everybody's personal needs and expectations from the phone.
Cheers

If you mean it by having outdated icons, then you can always install the thousands of available free S60v3 themes out there. If you mean that it doesn't have fancy visuals like the Iphone - then so be it. This is meant to be a UI that can be operated fast with a single opposable thumb. It doesn't have a bloated OS.

This is a superb phone in my opinion...
Finally I found a replacement for my N73... :)
And I have to say: I hate T9... but I'm not such a heavy texter (SMS, sometimes chatting),
and so I dont need phones like E71/72 or Blackberry Bold/Curve...
And the E55 fits perfectly in this space... I like it :)

Now, I only have to buy it soon!

UI is fine for a none-touchscreen phone. A horrible none-touchscreen UI would be Blackberry. It is stupidly unusable IMO.

Good review GSM ARENA. I like the compliment of texting speed test. It's worth to read because the review is not bored repetition of e52. Keep good work.
