All phones SHOULD be the same. It's like Sony Ericsson are trying to cut some cost on some regions.

I am using firstly sony Ericsson phone. C510 is a nice simply cyber shot phone in a affordable price. It has good qualities with its price range. I dont demand more but its should have metallic keypad and anti scratch body. But as it is good.i like it. Can anyone tell me about good quality pictures at night.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-24 04:03 from UD}EDo you have a black one? I have the same question as you too. I have the black one and the grey parts of the phone should've been silver instead of grey. Even Sony Ericsson c510 dummies has the silver kind... I guess it's really just grey.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-23 15:08 from uSN{Thanks for the info. I've already downloaded a copy of the camdriver from your previous post (i guess). I'll try it later. Why Sony Ericsson can't provide the solution themselves? Modding is not an easy task.

One more thing. It seems to me i'm the only one complaining about the gray stripes of this phone. It just that i've seen some live photos of c510 where it's stripes has a silvery finish. Mine is a simple gray. How come? It made me think mine has an inferior quality compared to the one's with a silver finish. Sony Ericsson should produce the same phones throughout the different regions.

Too bad, it does not include any m2 cards. You have to buy it separately which cost around PHP600 for a 2GB m2 card.

Hi guys, I got my new c510 4 days ago as a replacement to my aging 4 year old w800i. Here are my views about it. I was planning to buy T700 because I'm looking for a slim, lightweight phone that I can carry around along with my ipod touch (used it for music/web), but opted for c510 has I find it a little bit hard to type within the keypads of T700 and it was a bit too lightweight that I find it already uncomfortable, and the paint looks easily to peel off, so thats why I've chosen c510 over it, their price range is the same, only 100 pesos difference here in my location.

So far so good, my unit was doing well except for an isolated couple of restarts which was related to my aging simcard (9 years) and not with the phone, so what I did was upgraded my simcard from my provider (got a new simcard, but same number). I'm hoping this is just an isolated case of my aging simcard and not with the phones software.

As for the camera, yes, it's bad that they branded it as cybershot as the quality of photos are just average in day time and worst in night time/indoor (well, i'm sure almost all camphones are having a hard time at night, even dedicated point and shoot camera does suffer). But it has a great cool design camera cover. The LED light is not very strong enough to lighten up the subject at night, my w800 photo quality does it far better. But nevertheless I'm satified with it already as I'm not into cellphone photography. A dedicated pns camera for me would far be better. Plus LED light came very handy esp. at night, it does not have a torchlight function but you can always activate the light by going to video mode and setting the LED to turn on.

As for the music, I find it okay and loud enough when I use the onboard speaker, the headset that was bundled was just an average one and standard SE proprietary headset, no 3.5mm jack (I would not anymore mind the c510 music/web function as I got an ipod touch already which is far better couple it with a senheisser cx300 in-ear headphones.)

As for the phones built quality, so far the whole phone seems to be made of plastic, which is okay for me, but I'm just afraid of the paints like the wording "sony ericsson", "cybershot 3.2 megapixel auto focus" at the back of the phone as I find it the first ones to peel off and a cheap plastic battery cover. I notice that most sony ericsson phones suffers from peeling off but I'm sure almost all phones suffers from that too esp. when we used it everyday. I hope it would last long enough until I can buy again a new phone in the next 2 years or so.

As for the memory, sad to say, when I bought this one, it does not come up with any bundled m2 card, but it's good that they have thrown away 100mb internal memory which for me is good enough having few mp3 songs (for my ringtones) and at least a dozen more photos.

As for software, and user interface. As a former SE w800i user, I find it easy to adapt with the A200 software (very simple, easy to understand interface like the A100 software - I still prefer this simple straight forward layout than those Nokia symbian phones). It has an Accelerometer feature too. I notice that some themes makes the phone slow, so I recommend to just use the "clarity" theme (which is fast) or any other themes that SE have that does not include flashy interface coz if not it will make the phone menu slow. What I dislike was that there was no more "sleep mode" feature. It means you have to click the volume button or any buttons to see if you have missed calls, messages or to see the clock. This is very handy feature found on my w800 which I missed the most.

As for connectivity, the usual Bluetooth, and the USB cable - I find the USB feature to be great, no more software cd installers needed. Just plug the USB cable to the computer and you will find options (easy self explanatory options) that would transfer you files to and from the phone fast. I also found out that it uses the USB cable to charge the phone thru your computer.

As for battery, so far I have charged 1x only since I bought it 4 days ago (still need to monitor as this is a new phone, cannot really comment so much), but I'm expecting great results from SE with this one. This is one of the main reasons I'm still with SE coz they have great battery life.

Overall, after 4 days of use I can say that it's worth the price of PHP 8,890 with one year SE warranty. Even with its downside (due for its mid-range features), it's worth the upgrade from my aging w800 (peeling/fading/cracked all over it). Just don't expect too much from this budget phone but if your looking for a simple, lightweight (92g), standard call/text phone, this one would be great for you.
