So is it just like I have a PC, which is still working fine on Windows XP, don't go for Windows 10 (maybe the hardware could not support windows 10 too...)
By the way, how and where to check if my AFP is "Insta-Broken XLPOS9000" version?
Anonymous, 12 Oct 2015I think makumakunii was talking about AF2 and not AFP!
Anyway, I hv some questions about all ... moreIn all reality, no, not really!! It mostly depends on the person using the Android device in question. Some want the "latest n greatest" and others don't really care. For the most part, if you're happy enough with the OS you have..... well, if it isn't broken, don't fix it!! That seems to be the part most are overlooking. So don't let the overblown complaints about it get to you!! It upgrades to another version of Android.... ok. It doesn't upgrade.... still ok as long as things are working.
In my case, I have a Galaxy Mini running Android 2.2. I used that thing for 5+ YEARS. It's still working fine too. I didn't care about the OS version. I only bought a new phone because I wanted something with much stronger specs. And YES, I got that when I caught luck and ended up getting the good version of this phone. Not the Insta-Broken XLPOS9000 version of this phone!! It's the Insta-Broken version that people ended up getting instead of the good version (not so lucky for them). So here comes the complaints.
ALL the problems I've had with this phone so far were puny. Nearly pointless to even mention at times. I haven't seen lags like others are describing. The sound and everything else is working fine. I'd LIKE to get a better camera app but even the stock one is working fine. This has been the case for me since August 2015 when I got this phone. Others.... not so lucky.
You're right, the AFP is NOT a Lollipop device. However, I have spotted a custom ROM that would make it a Lollipop device. I have no idea how well it works because I never tried it for myself. Oh well !!
Your apps only depend on the OS MINIMUM version to make them work. The minimum version required is almost always listed in the Play Store app description. Thank the developer as you see fit IF it isn't listed there. Otherwise, they stop working due to a bug or several bugs or some incompatability with a specific device or a clueless user. It's almost never because you didn't or couldn't upgrade your OS. IF an app requires a higher version of Android, you can ALMOST always find a suitable replacement app. Or get another device with the required OS depending on how much you REALLY want that app. Most app updates I've seen still have a minimum OS requirement that was there from the start. If the developer of the app in question had anything resembling intelligence, that detail wouldn't change. If it did, they would cut off a very large number of their own users that are using older OS versions with just a single update. Not terribly bright no matter which way you look at it!!

Anyway, I hv some questions about all these OS stuffs and hope someone could help me to understand more.
Is it really important to upgrade the OS from Kitkat to Lollipop?
What will happen if my phone cannot be upgraded? Will my FB, whatsapp，Gmail etc... stop working and I can't even call out & receive call?
Please advice, cheers!

The Alcatel Flash 2 has been great for its price so far. I have yet to encounter performance issues from my daily usage. One thing that is bothersome though is while everyone is saying bugs about video with alot of noise/grains while in low light they didn't see that the storage selection has its own bug. If you install games that requires additional data like NFS or Asphalt 8 it stores the downloaded data in the sdcard even if you set Internal as default write disk. This is the only Lollipop device with sdcard that I have encountered this so I know it's not a LP thing but definitely an Alcatel ROM bug.
Ive had the phone for 2 weeks now. So far i have no issues regarding the phones performance atleast for its price its better than what i expected it to be. Battery life is not as good as my iphone 6+ and when battery is at 4% it just takes 3 mins to get to 1%. Charging life is abit slow. Camera is not really that good. But with such a cheap price there's really nothing to complain about. I would recomend this phone to anyone looking for a secondary phone or someone who's on a budget
[deleted post]I bought it for about USD115 via Lazada Malaysia in Sept 2015.
Joseph, 08 Oct 2015What about the battery. what happens when its broken can u just change it ?
Bro, I used to be very concern about whether the battery of a cellphone could be replaced or not when it reached the end of it's lifespan but one day, I suddenly realize that with the speed of new technology & new phone model coming out nowadays, I always change my phone before the battery is dead.
So I think whether or not the battery could be replaced is not really important nowadays!?
i have to agree with the camera...
it could have been better given that it's 13mp Sony sensor.
bad quality when zooming and during low light.
overall, it's a good phone with its price in consideration

But so far, I m quite happy with this AFP, no major issue!

Hey guys, we're fooled by the company. I don't believe this phone has the specs as written. Based on my observation, and also experience. First, the touch sucks. Especially when you have sweaty hands. It's malfunctioning even with a small trace of sweat. It will make you throw it away. I seriously prefer cherry omega hd 2.0 that i bought last year compare to this imaginary too good to be true phone. 2 GB RAM and I had more than enough lagg issues. Camera's not what you're supposed to be expecting.
All in all? 1/10. Same as for plus 2. Haven't you noticed? They released alcatel flash plus for "beta" or "user's feedback" only. That's why after months of feedbacks from the users they released flash plus two. It's disappointing. Never try alcatel EVER again.
bad camera, specially at night, vga quality photos with all eyes lit white because of the flash, fast phone, but sadly even if the specs is good for lollipop, manufacturer have no plans for an update
Hi guys... I just bought this phone from Lazada. I noticed that I'm not getting LTE connection even when I'm in LTE coverage area. Already activated the LTE service from my service provider. Still couldn't get LTE connection. My service provider is using LTE band 2600 MHz and this phone supported that kind of band as mentioned in Alcatel Flash Plus spec. Please anyone help me...
zahran, 28 Sep 2015My Spotify icon is missing. And when I tried to place the apps widget, it will also gone. How ?perhaps, u can try this one by putting your 3 fingers together at the bottom end of the screen then slide it upward.. this may help you see your hidden apps!
sonnief, 29 Sep 2015Everything is good except the hotspot tethering, I gotta reset it all the time to make it read... moreperhaps, u can try this one by putting your 3 fingers together at the bottom end of the screen then slide it upward.. this may help you see your hidden apps!
Maybe you don't have this phone so you're telling false info's...
It has great camera 13 MP dude and it is OTG capable..
Please don't tell false info's
Boggieman, 04 Oct 2015At first I thought having this phone might erase my disappointment with ALCATEL, because this ... moreSadly i think you are right. I don't think they will update the flash plus to lollipop and us users will be stuck with kitkat. So disappointing. First, i bought the alcatel idol 2 years ago, they did not update the OS and i was stuck with jellybean until i sold the phone early this year. I was hoping things would be different this time, but i guess i was wrong, same old alcatel will leave users hanging in the air with outdated OS. Such a shame, because i really think this is a good phone. But this will be the last time i will buy an alcatel phone that's for sure.
If your buying this phone for its camera then you'll just be disappointed. Both front and back camera really sucks. Second, it has no OS update so you'll be stuck with kitkat for a while unless if you'll root the phone. Third, it is not otg capable. On the other hand this phone has a nice, maybe desirable display and sound quality in both the loud speaker and earpiece is good, maybe even great for a normal listener. So far, heavy gaming apps run smoothly with this phone. No lags. Overall, for an average user, it is still a great phone considering its price.
