There is much that seems good about this phone. However, the instruction booklet is quite the worst and least helpful for any piece of kit I've ever bought. The most unfortunate result is that in
practice it is used simply to send and receive voice transmissions only.
Has anyone come across a user-friendly 'How to do it' book?

I had the same problem with my old C701. I was listening to music when it ran out of battery power. It switched off. I decided to recharge it but when I connected the AC charger, the battery icon will not show up. I tried charging it by connecting it to the PC through the USB cable. The battery icon would show and it would seem to be charging. But, even after more than an hour of charging, the phone would still not boot. If I press the power button, the Alcatel logo would show for about a second then the phone would die. I brought it to a phone shop and they repaired it by reformatting the phone. After that it was OK, though, I lost all the contacts, messages and files stored in the phone.
I actually encountered the problem twice and on the same occassions - the phone died while I was listening to music. The second time it happened, while I was at the repair shop, I was able to talk to another Alcatel user. He had a different model, but we had the same problem and he said he already had his phone reformatted a few times. I guess this is a common bug with Alcatel phones. And, I also read in the forums here about Alcatel users experiencing the same problem.
After that incident, I decided to buy another phone (different brand).

It is so strange, that the engineers writing the software for this phone never tried to use their own product? I am dissapointed.

The phone is almost ok, but has very annoying problems:
Music player: I simply want to play all files in a directory. Can't do this with this phone!
SMS, for languages other than English: all my previous phones could transmit the letter "á" (a') as a single character. This one can't. Entering a single "á" immediately reduces SMS length to 80. Therefore I can't even use the predictive typing in languages containg "á" if I need more than 80 characters for my SMS.
My software version is 010 01.

i putted in my cell phone 2gb card and it collapsed my software. it is on repair now

i bought this phone a month ago an it works great but the manual could give more info like how to use it as a webcam.an what u need to know bout tethering with the cd is comes with.there is no webcam software.far as i know so good luck finding 1. an mcafee found a malware program in the pc suite program.u remove it and u will have to reinstall.other than that it is a great phone for the money.the most extra for the buck.usb cable headphones/webcam/mass storage.

Just have one question. What is the purpose of teh CD that came with my phone. I would like to put lyrics on the songs I downloaded, what shall I do? I know my phone has that capacity. tanx

I really love my phone. I have this phone for 15mos already. The features are great. It is not a bad phone, believe me!! I am contented with my phone.
