I got this phone as a Student after losing my previous phone. It was the cheapest one in woolworths but its great. It rings people and it sends texts. What else do you need from a phone? The MP3 is an awesome bonus. A lot better than those incredibly annoying camera phones people lug around these days.
The only issue I have is that lack of a simple 'ring ring' ring tone, it only has a set of weird tunes to use.

I purchased this mobile about a year ago for £20 with a £512mB card. I have very good experience- I use the phone as a mp3 player when running and the sound is TERIFIC!! I would not use it to make phonecalls, the sound quality is bad and the phone looks low class. I also call to find where I left my normal mobile inside the flat. Unfortunately now headphones giving up on me. OVER ALL 5 STARS!! Did exactly what I needed

Erik: Thanks for your nice words!
Cathy: If you want a simple and easy going non issue phone... which can call, text and play music in your headset for less then 30 Euro's... then you have no better phone than this E801 and the E805

lorkan, you should have been reading the specifications and posts here before buying this model. If your reason in buying this is you have some images that you want to set as your wallpaper you have made a wrong decision. This model does not support wallpaper customization.
Most people who own this phone bought this phone because this is the cheapest phone and have mp3 player plus basic phone features like call, text, alarm, calculator and games.

This phone is not user-friendly. I cant set the 128x128 images that I downloaded as wallpaper and yet it is the very reason that I brought this phone. Yes it has a cheaper price, but, it lacks customer-friendly services.

damola, to download mp3 files, just connect your phone to your pc using the mini usb cable provided then activate the usb. Your pc then will detect a new drive (usually drive e). Go to that drive and you can see a folder named "mp3". Copy the mp3 files from your hard drive (drive c) then paste them into drive 3's "mp3" folder.

First of all, why should you buy headset for this. The package already includes headset. But anyway, you can buy any headset that has mini usb tip.

Another big thanks to alcatel and to everyone here. I just hope that alcatel won't ever gonna close just like others here says badly about it. Hope they'll keep on going and growing and continue their business with the customers all over the world.

One of the useful and great feature of this phone is that, no matter how much viruses gets into your memory card, the phone will never be affected since the virus itself is not compatible with the phone's system. Just don't save any corrupt mp3 audio files if you don't want your phone to go digitally and technologically dizzy(a hang up i mean).
Another thing to note is that for those who hates the headset included into the package, u can buy an ibud rubber earpieces(cost Php 145 here in wellcom store) and just glue a small amount of it in the earpiece rubber n attached it carefully onto the top of the headset(just make sure the epoxy glue doesn't scatter onto the headset grills), and then your all set to hear the great differences of the sound like u just owned a sony walkman headset with rubbers on the earpieces with good and clear bass(enough to ruin your eardrums from time to time if you'll ask me). My experiences though so... try it.. and hear the big differences.

Cathy, all I can say is you will never regret buying this phone because this is the cheapest mp3 player in town. And not only you have mp3 player with this but you also have a phone with call and text function. And again with cheap price you also have calculator and can play games anytime you want to. Phone with basic function is what people really need everyday. You can't see people browsing the internet using their phone all the time because browsing the net using pc is still much better. The battery killer bluetooth is not used by phone owners most of the times but almost all people now are using listening to their favorite music while on the road or anywhere they go. So don't hesitate to buy this.
