Apple iPhone 3G - user opinions and reviews

Apple

Now I know that the iPhone has an extrememly strong fanbase, and an equally strong base of those who dislike it...

I have a white 16GB and just today after owning it for just 3 months, it decides to cark it. Nothing works, and it randomly decides to ringv people and decline calls. I'm not sure why it has decided to die. But to be honest, it won't be missed.

So for all those who think that the iPhone is all that, think again, and just remember this:
Tasting the poisonous fruit won't be as nice as they say it is...

> In reply to stonecold @ 2008-11-20 05:50 from 0ftPobviously you dont know what your talking about. you just have to take a look at number of full length touch screen phones becoming available now to see how the iphone has changed mobile phone market. The iphone is NOT the best phone spec-wise, i would be the first to admit that. however what it does have is one of the best if not THE best touch screen on the market and software that makes the iphone very enjoyable to use. as for american technology, do you think the iphone is made in america? really????

Clearly you are jealous of someone's enjoying their new toy and with your handle as stone cold, you cannot accept it, and you have no idea whatsoever about iPhone, just saying people you know did this and did that. Try it, if it suits fine, if not then pls comment about it, instead of equating it with cars and country of origin. Try to be Warm Heart....and Open Mind

apple iphone...an american technology. no wonder it sucks. even american vehicles suck.

if i am correct, majority of the people in here probably live outside of the US. Therfore, the iphone is fascinating to them. Little do they know America is behind when it comes to technology. Some of us Americans, like me, are not fascinated by the iphone. We are fascinated and impress by nokia's, htc's, samsung's, sony's and other Asian technologies. I know people who live in the US that traded or sold their iphones, because it is more of a toy than an all around device, to get nokia/samsung/htc/lg devices.

the iphone revolutionized the touchscreen phones? that's great joke. Japan's (Asia in general)technology is far advance than america's. even the PS3 came out in Asia first, then to europe, lastly to America.

As i have said before the iphone is more of a multimedia phone, not an all-around phone. now comes the evolution(the all-around devices)...n96, innov8, nokia tube..etc..etc.

Google voice search now works, the update came through yesterday, you go into settings and within the app and switch it on.

I am sorry I started this war between I phone and N95.
I really think they are both excellent devices and I should not have compared the two. each is unique and great. I wish they make one that combines the two in one. will nokia5800 do that? please let me know.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-20 01:29 from inyRSo do I, I also find it very easy to use when it's mounted in my carkit.

Change songs, make and receive calls via a bluetooth headset or speaker phone.

Its mounted next to my steering wheel so I can quickly glance at Google maps, there is a single dock connector which I hardwired in.

Why then do you need two to use an iPhone? I use mine with one hand all the time. In fact, I find it more frustrating when I try and use two.
Don't put on nonsense like you need two hands to use it.

adjective, noun, plural -ar⋅ie
Radically new or innovative; outside or beyond established procedure, principles, etc.: a revolutionary discovery

Omnia and Xperia revolutionary? iPhone inspired design... hmm, really revolutionary. I work at a phone shop and was reading reviews and the thing that constantly jumps out is 'took from Apple' or 'Followed in Apple' 'Kept with Apple's'
The iPhone was the revolution. Sure you can debate over perfomance and such, maybe the Omnia is better, but that doesn't mean it is some new idea.

And don't go on about older Symbian phones that had touch screens before the iPhone. It has been said countless times before that the Apple Newton was the first touch screen phone before HTC and other companies even existed

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-11-20 00:23 from 3Y5KApparently they are important to this guy:-

"I ended up doing the much the same. Sold my iPHONE 3G for $$$$ cash and am happily assigning shortcuts to bluetooth, received calls, missed calls, & SMS logs with a low cost replacement. Basic features that all but the IPHONE support."

If call records are so critical he would have been better off with a Motorola, Green call key, * or # to scroll between the different categories.

Sharp were pretty good at this also.

Nokia sucks at it, just like it took them over 10 years to put a call timer on the screen during a call, without having to dig into menu's.

Clearly that has been proven incorrect. Don't go on about how sliding makes it fantastic.

> In reply to Xman @ 2008-11-19 20:45 from DIx8I'm glad you're happy with your old phone, now can you bring up call records from 3 months ago?

I can get them from over a year ago from my old phone ((Motorola V3XX that my wife still uses).

They used to disappear from my N82 after 30 days.

On the iPhone, I can scroll through the call records and touch the blue icon next to the call if I want to find out whether it was in or out.

Motorola is really good with call records.
