Maybe you didn't know that major retailers offer temporary holiday jobs over Christmas which is the busiest time of year.
Anonymous, 11 Nov 2009Hey! Very well spoken!!
I have been having a hard time choosing between the 3GS and the nokia... moreHaving used both Symbian and Iphone for years, and eventually the touch version of symbian, I have concluded that the iphone is far better. In terms of functionality, sure 5800 can do flash and send files over bluetooth, but be honest, when was the last time you've ever wanted to send a file over bluetooth? The truth is, file managers and obscure functionality like that only detracts from the experience of using the phone, which is something that people really SHOULD value more than anything. This is the perfect mixture of functionality AND simplicity, something other companies have never been able to get right.
I would spend hours trying to sync songs from my computer to my phone (symbian) and much of the time it would either upload to the wrong place or get corrupted. It was a nightmare. Itunes makes things simple and streamlined. Although some people say that Apple "cripples" us by not letting us send files over bluetooth, or letting us multitask stuff, they have reasons. In fact, before they released Iphone 3.0, they had done extensive testing of multitasking, and were able to prove that it reduced battery life by something like 70-80% on all other major phone OS's.
Anyways, enjoy your Iphone 3GS, you won't regret it :)

"Apple dub... moreMy gosh, where do you get your sources from? You're obviously just making things up. The iphone's success is in the NEWS, not on an iphone commercial, lol. You're crazy.
You mock Apple for laying off 10.000 employees? Well how about Nokia laying off 450.000 employees every year :) Also, Nokia, just like Apple, will start outsourcing jobs as well. So before you mock Apple, look at your Nokia as well.
The iphone is not made by Foxconn. That link you provided does not state anywhere that the iphone is made by Foxconn. What a loser you are.
The 3gs sales rocketed because of new users, 2g users & 3g users that upgraded. If there's anyone advertising fake numbers, that would be you :)
Apple is not hiding anything because they have nothing to hide. Your desperation to destroy the iphone is pathetic.

I have been having a hard time choosing between the 3GS and the nokia 5800 and i think you have just convinced me even further towards the 3GS
i didnt know bout the sync- as cut/paste! thats great!
ive looked up many comparisons and the ones that werent way to technical only spoke of stuff im not rlly going to use! :P (accept for talk quality - iphone won!)
are there any other things that make the iphone 3gs top dog over nokia 5800?
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970How would you know? You never had the ipbone :)
Anonymous, 11 Nov 2009"Do you even know what innovation means? The iphone brought innovation into the smartphone wor... moreIf you do not know what's smooth about the iphone's UI, you obviously have not touched one. What small resolution? The iphone's resolution is very good for its screen size. You say its touchscreen is oversensitive because your envious that your touchscreen is unresponsive, lol.
And which is worse when a device crashes? Simply rebooting it by depressing 2 buttons at the same time, or opening the back of your phone and then pull the battery out and then put the battery back in and then turn on the phone?! Lol.
You are not making sense. You do not even have to copy and paste music with the iphone. It automatically synchs it. Same with photos and other files. And it does not matter if you purchased that file from itunes or from an outside source. You obviously have not owned an iphone.
Mms works fine on the iphone. I never had a problem with. Although honestly, I rarely use it. You don't need 3rd party apps to view youtube videos on your iphone. It has a native youtube app. Again, just proves that you never used an iphone. The absence of flash is a non-issue with the iphone. Flash makes your device vulnerable to hackers. It is not worth the risk.
I don't care if ovi used to be ngage. The fact is, everyone is now aggressively restructuring their application stores mimicking the App Store. We are not talking about pc softwares, but smartphone applications.
You don't know? Or you want to play like you don't know and that you were never aware of the strong presence of the iphone. That's called being in a state of denial.
Give credit to where it's due. Symbian & winmo WERE innovative. They haven't done anything innovative in the past 3 yrs. Having the same old features over and over again does not make them innovative. If they're that innovative, then how come maemo came out? And how come Samsung is axing symbian? And can you show me an official description of an OS that states that it is spread out to multiple devices? Are you making up your own descriptions to fit in with your mentality?
And really how is the iphone's OS inferior to any other smartphone's OS's? You do not know what you are talking about.
Apps that are screensavers? What are you talking about? The iphone has thousands and thousands of apps, but I don't think they have screensaver apps. And what apps are you referring to that brings functionality to the iphone that other manufacturers give for free out of the box? Which phone has epocrates, directv, ups/fedex tracking, remote control, pedometer, dictionary, etc out of the box?
Be realistic. No smartphone can replace a laptop or a desktop computer. Just like no 2 seater sports car can replace a 10 seater van. Smartphone will always have its limits.
If reputable gadget magazines categorizes iphone to be a smartphone, who the hell are you to say otherwise?
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970People are smarter than that, nobody would make such a big deal out of something if it didn't give them what they wanted. An easy majority of phone users are thrilled by the iphone more than by any other phone because of its simplicity and it's efficient, clean, snappy interface. Every single Windows Mobile phone I've ever used, even symbian, has been sluggish and pathetically slow. This applies even to HTC's newer devices.
Just because Iphone doesn't come with a "to-do" app doesn't mean it can't do it at all, you can just download (free OR paid) any To Do app you want. In a sense, you have even more choices than on any other phone. Honestly, you get what you pay for. I bought a great to do app for a dollar, and it has worked wonders for me.
The Iphone can easily watch youtube videos, even if it has to (quickly) switch from safari to youtube. This "specialization" leads to MUCH smoother viewing and performance.
Get it in your head WHY the Iphone does what it does.
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970The truth about the so much denied and contradictory financial results of apple:
"Apple dubbed the laid off salespeople "full-time equivalents," reporting a headcount of 14,000 Apple store employees. That's slashed from the 15,600 number listed in its 10-K filing just last January."
The ever increasing profits of apple as the user "P%nm" always advertises are nothing but advertisement themselves. Apple, as well as they might try to hide it, has very small anual profit rates forcing them to fire more than 10.000 employees every year!
This is also the reason why iPhone isn't actually made by apple but by FOXCONN: http://www.betanews.com/articl...e/1248371905 this explains the reason why the iphone that costs ~150$ to manufacture costs as much as 1200$ if you're to "get it free" on contract and also why apple is the only company that allows paid thethering from AT&T on their device!
"Skating on stellar increases in iPhone sales, Apple turned in its "best non-holiday quarter" in history from January through March. Now, an examination of Apple's 10-Q filing by Betanews reveals that overall sales for Apple stores shot up, too -- albeit only to the tune of 2 percent, or $58 million -- between the first six months in Apple's respective 2008 and 2009 fiscal years."
"Apple would "incur substantial costs if it were to close multiple retail stores and such costs could adversely affect the Company's financial condition and operating results," company officials conjectured."
So how come the sales of 3GS suddenly rocketed, while most users don't find the differences between 3G and 3GS as justifying the price? EASY! apple advertises fake income numbers so that naive users that buy fancy for popularity actually believe apple is a success... whereas the truth is the company barely keeps afloat fireing tens of thousands of people every year!
This is the information apple tries to hide from us all and it's a thing quite hard to find on the internet these days as is real feedback over their products.
Steve Jobs, the CEO and main animator of apple has been operated on a few months ago for alcoholic cyrosis! I am glad he is better and he has to be since he's the only thing that stands between apple and doom.
But really, is that the attitude of the CEO of a winning company? Alcoholism? Laying off 14.000 to 15.000 every year?
Anonymous, 11 Nov 2009And, LoL satio has a few keypoints to advertise...
While all you'll hear from the ifanboys is... moreHaven't you learned anything by now? The keyword is PRACTICALITY. That is what iphone sells that all the other feature hungry smartphones do not have. Do you know why the others make sure they pack their phones with features more than the iphone's? Because that is the best they can do because they can't match the App Store. Do you know why they make sure that their spec numbers are higher than the smartphone? Because that's the best they can do for not being able to match the iphone's OS. All those native features that other phones offer become trivial once you start packing the iphone with applications that suits your daily lifestyle. And the iphone's OS is so capable and stable that performance is not compromised even after you have loaded it with a bunch of apps and files. Other phones crash and slows down.
A smooth UI and stable OS is important to a lot of users. Other phonemakers realized that and are working aggressively to improve their UI and OS. Can't you see that? So learn.

The iphone brought innovation into the smartphone world. It changed the mentality of users that there can actually be a phone with a smooth UI"
What's smooth? the huge icons on the small resolution an imprecise oversensitive control?
"rarely to none freezes,"
Exept that when it does you have to hard reset it since the batt can't be removed.
"convenient access to apps, convenient access to a music/movie store"
inability to use copy-paste of apps music photos or anything. you can only use it where itunes are installed.
"stable OS, convenient integration of services, etc"
The OS is not that stable and not even mms works right.
Not to mention the browser doesn't have flash and you need 3rd party apps to view youtube.
That is the innovation that the iphone brought that pushed every other phonemaker like nokia, samsung, se, lg, htc, rim, etc.
"Why do you think all these other phonemakers are AGGRESSIVELY working on their own application stores and music stores, and even new OS's?"
Actually nokia had n-gage for apps, comes with music for music and Download! a long while ago... now it's called ovi.
You don't buy your PC software from a marketplace d you?
And look at all these touchscreen phones that came out in the last 2 yrs. It's all triggered by the iphone.
Triggered or not, I don't know. Noone bothered too much for capacitative... EVER and winmo's are touch since the dawn of time.
"And you dare say that the iphone is not an innovative device?!"
I say any symbian or winmo winmo are far more inovative and iPhone doesn't provide even half of the function those operating systems provide, because iPhone does not quite have an operating system. An OS is usually spread on multiple brands and devices.
"You should be thankful of the iphone. Because if not for the iphone, your phonemaker of choice wouldn't be as competitive as they are now."
Dunno maybe design-wise since iPhone "OS" is still inferior to any smartphone OSes.
Hardcore power users use desktop computers or laptop, not smartphones. [...] The iphone is the ultimate smartphone because of its OS and the accessability to thousands of apps.
Thousands of apps that are screensavers or are not compatible with 3GS anymore. Also thousands of apps that are bringing functionality that other manufacturers give for free to start with.
If you would ever have used a smartphone you would know that it's purpuose IS to enable you to do everythong you could do on your laptop if you wanted to... ofcourse at the pace of a mini keyboard.
iPhone is not a smartphone, the single element it has in common with one is the browser, and not even that handles flash.
undecided, 11 Nov 2009why do you think satio rocks? And, LoL satio has a few keypoints to advertise...
While all you'll hear from the ifanboys is how nice and smooth iPhone is, how good it feels, that if it doesn't have "that", then it's unnecessary and that it doesn't need any specs since it's considered for 90% of the people and ofcourse how good it sells & how popular it is..
Just compare the specs right here on gsmarena.

undecided, 11 Nov 2009why do you think satio rocks?See that long list down there?
Satio can do all that and even more both software- and hardware wise.
It is superior to iPhone in every single aspect.
But so is almost any symbian phone that has a touchscreen and most of the winmos and androids released this year.
Anonymous, 11 Nov 2009Satio rocks, there'sno question. What I don't like is the pop port and that's it :Dwhy do you think satio rocks?
Anonymous, 11 Nov 2009Competition always brings us, the consumers better and newer stuff!iPhone brought no innovation. It just brought a touch screen phone into a touchscreen-poor world with a lot of advertising.
Hardcore powerusers would never make the tradeoff, not even for the 3GS since iPhone still lacks tons of features that define a smartphone.
It's interesting to read all these rocking arguments, let's make it roll then :
Nokia had their time as number one, loosing their cookie to a newbie like Apple is surely hurt them, especially their reputation as number one,but Apple too made grave mistakes as newbie did, they want to take the market into their world, not taking their product into the world like a highly overpriced phone with limited capabilities to trade it with one of the most enjoyable UI and they did it alright for some time.
I am using 3Gs right now,it's great for me since this is my first time using iPhone, but i won't be too excited or even want to change my phone to 3Gs had i already used original iPhone or iPhone3G,no matter what specs changed or upgraded performance, using a new phone with the same look of your old one is downgrading the overall of the new phone,i believe many people would feel the same way as me.
I once used 7620,N73 and N95,they're all great until i got bored cause i think no evolution was made by nokia, they were trapped in "Comfort Zone" enjoying it as they were number one,do nothing more than defending their position and got carried away until it was too late, their profit partially taken away by a new player not to mention the south korean copycats Samsung & LG,they might be copycats but they also eat up Nokia in some ways.
Now Nokia,or should i say every big companies awaken from their comfort, they'll be preparing themselves and constantly living on the edge, trying to make innovations, cause it is personal to take down this "Bad boy from California".
As for Apple, let's just see their next phone,be it like motorola V-series,dying by repetition or show us something else like they did in 2007 when iPhone was launched,it will be a crucial step in 2010 for Apple and Nokia.
