Amazing that when you read these "reviews" all they really tell you is that this phone is a piece of crap- I would argue the vast majority of these people have never even seen the phone let alone used the phone in person.
As to why the ratings are so low- what a load of tosh. It's an amazing phone which appeals to a great deal of the phone market- not necerssairly everybody but that's ok.
The design of this thing is killer- the highest quality design of a phone I've ever come across- feels much better than cheap plastic

Slashgear iPhone 5 review

http://www.slashgear.com/iphon...ew-18247708/

Competition between mobile platforms keeps the industry moving and innovating. That can often present itself as a surfeit of innovation: feature upon feature, piled high in an all-singing, all-dancing device. Right now, the iPhone 5 has the best balance of everyday usability and performance, without the distraction of functionality that is clever but unintuitive. It’s an area in which Apple excels, and it’s the reason the iPhone 5 is one of the best smartphones on the market today.

Metro review of iPhone 5

http://blogs.metro.co.uk/tech/...leads-field/

On paper, the iPhone 5 may appear to offer more of the same. While it doesn’t deviate from Apple’s previous iPhone template too much, once you have the thing in your hand it sweeps you away. Throw in an improved Siri, the Panorama camera function and, yes, those flipping EarPods and you have a five-star iPhone 5. It may not be the biggest smartphone out there, but it remains the classy leader of its field.

http://m.cnet.com/reviews/appl...e-5/35022502

Design: 9.0
Features: 9.0
Performance: 8.0

Bottom line:

The iPhone 5 completely rebuilds the iPhone on a framework of new features and design, addressing its major previous shortcomings. It's absolutely the best iPhone to date, and it easily secures its place in the top tier of the smartphone universe.

Apple will soon taste their fruit of court policy, once the world started hating their products .
they should not suppressed other (phone) manufacturers rights again and again for the sake of innocent customers.

PC Advisor iPhone 5 review

http://mobile.pcadvisor.co.uk/...ne-5-review/

Wrapup

This is the first iPhone to face strong competition from Android devices such as the popular Samsung Galaxy S III. Our tests so far suggest it already shows all the competition a very clean pair of heels in raw speed. And the iPhone 5 has build quality that can't currently be matched. The iPhone 5 is a very classy act.
