However, you can reset the phone to a new-like state, but doing a hard-reset - it restores the OS to its original state that the phone came in. This is in contrast to a soft-reset, which simply restarts the phone.

The phone is good in all respects, a little slow.

The only thing bad is the signal reception, it is the worst of my LG, Nokia, Samsung and Sony Ericsson. It shows no bars, where others are showing almost full signal.

You can change this by modifying the options under Settings -> System -> Power -> Advanced, although your battery may drain out much faster if you do so.

Having used this phone for a week, I can say that it is definitely a HUGE improvement over older WinMo phones.

Only, i'm not getting used to the laggy interface and often i'm kept waiting for the phone to catch up. The battery drain is quite noticeable too.
Also, many times, the phone loses network, will show a black screen and still keeps the green LED blinking. I dont know why that happens but wish it doesnt :)

And Prashant, thanks for the tip, it worked well. I also installed this "Pocket toolman", which is a handy tool.

With regard to my query on the 3.5mm jack. You say there is a 2.5mm jack available ? If so thats great. I am under the impression that the only audio out is from the bottom, something like the Sony Erickson old phones, custom jack ...

> In reply to Pranjal @ 2008-07-20 13:54 from 2SWy - click to readPranjal, Even though the hardware specs seem to be on the lower end (in fact, I believe these are the minimum recommendations specified by Microsoft), the phone performs pretty well in most situations. It only begins to get sluggish when you are running a whole bunch of applications at the same time. The screen appears very vibrant even though it only supports 65K colours.

I am using GPS in Delhi, and the SiRF III chipset performs extremely well wherever I've been. For free applications, try out Google Maps, Nav4all and Live Search Mobile.

> In reply to arun @ 2008-07-20 11:10 from 2SP4 - click to readDon't know about Bangalore in particular (since I live in Delhi), but 3 great freeware options are Google Maps, Nav4All, and Live Search Mobile (all 3 requiring GPRS to download maps on the fly). Since none of these as Indian companies as such, you'll find their solutions to be hit or miss based on your current navigation needs. To compare them with an Indian map, you can download the trial versions of MapMyIndia or MapKing.

> In reply to jeff @ 2008-07-20 11:06 from ib6K - click to readYou can clear up the current Cache files by going into the IE options. By default these are stored under "\Windows\Profiles\guest". Then, to store them on the MicroSD card in future, change the registry keys under the "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders" folder. These are Cache, Cookies and History. Point them to the new locations on the Storage Card (make sure you check the name of your Card before doing so).
