Soon you will be prompted to update your device. The update process takes around 20 min. Including full bootstrap. Please repeat this process over and over until your version date says October 2015.
I just bought this yesterday and it was still working ok until lunchtime i had to reset because i went through a freeze moment, i accidentally went to the recovery mode then when it opened the camera, gallery and play store is not working properly
those updates really made a huge difference... at first i thought mine was already updated. mr. fan here was right, dont get too confused. updates really offer improvements. my kernel is now updated to oct7 and those things i was crying about before are now gone...gone with the laggy device, now it's very smooth. sorry asus for judging this too early. updates really helped a lot! :)

This way you can get the essential auto FOTA updates from ASUS.

It is an excellent device. Hardly any add-on applications. The few add-on apps are actually very useful. Excellent ZenUI middleware interface, and an excellent standby battery manager. My advice is avoiding fiddling with the device, or reset it, and let it install all much needed updates from google, such as stage fright security fix, and all the system updates from ASUS. There were many great system updates from ASUS, which fixed many bugs. Going back to factory reset is not recommended.

If you ... moremine was already 5.0.2 and it's laggy. i even applied factory reset and wipe cache partition. asus put so many things here ruining the potentials of this tab..disabling or freezing those asus bloatwares is not possible. the only thing that's good here is the display and the sound quality (if poweramp is your player coupled with the its audio manager).

If you only bought the device a few days ago, then please be patient and let android finish all much needed updates. While android is updating you may feel some lag, due to heavy android activity. This lag will stop after about two weeks of usage. Also please allow for ASUS system updates to install. There are a few of them. Once done please make sure that your version is from September 2015.
bought this tab few days ago...it's good but the battery sucks. and performance could have been better if not for those too many running asus apps (cannot be disabled). has potentials, but lots of bloatware making this device laggy and battery hungry. anyone knows how to root this device? please....

What you are experiencing was a known issue in older system release, which already fixed in the latest system update fro ASUS. Please make sure you allow auto FOTA updates to install. Do not reject or delay the auto updates. GO to settings, about, system update and check the date stamp on your system version. If it is not from 201509, meaning September 2015, then it means that your system version is old. Then start the update check on the same screen, and allow and accept the auto update over the air, FOTA, if will take around 10 to 20 minutes including restart. Be patient.
I am very disappointed with my ASUS ZenPad. Everytime I use the video recording and tries to zoom it, it hangs and restarts. I took it back to the store where I bought it. They refused to changed the unit. And when I tried the video recording of other units of the same model. Same thing happens. Hmmm, DId the Asus checked their product before they released it to the market?

A single state update is not enough. Go to settings, a bout, version info. If your version is not from Sep. 2015,then you must issue another system update, until your version is from Sep. 2015. System update takes aound 15 min, including system restart and bootstap. Be patient.
I just use my new Zenpad Z370CG few days, design looking nice, but so disappointed, is easily to hang, and after few hours not using will auto shutdown, i was testing many times, why my ZenPad will auto shutdown, software is updated the latest version, really disappointed.
A few words about power button. Please note that there is no problem with the power button in the ZenPad z170cg. Some users are not familiar with the default behaviour of the power button in android lollipop 5.0.2. In order to power on the device you need to use a long press on the power button, and 3 second, until you feel a vibrate. Then let go and the device will bootstrap. In order to force shutdown of the device use a long press of over 12 seconds. In some cases if the device screen is black due to buggy applications (such as clash of clan which is buggy over lollipop), you need to first long press over 12 seconds, then let go, the long press for 3 seconds until you feel a vibrate. Try it.
fan, 02 Sep 2015Try disabling the built in ASUS power saver app. That solved a lot of crashes no boots for me.... moreIt is not recommended to disable ASUS battery manager. Thanks to this great tool your device will keep it's battery full while in standby. You can keep over 90% battery for many hours, if the phone pad is not in use. Instead it would be better to get all latest FOTA updates from ASUS. With latest FOTA update, your device user experience will greatly improve.
Try disabling the built in ASUS power saver app. That solved a lot of crashes no boots for me.
Now the tablet only shuts down when I leave it charged overnight.
One of tablet with great specs at a reasonable cost. That was main reason I bought theAsus 370CG. But totally disappointed. It hang & crash after one day. Then sent it to service center that updated the firmware. But again after one day same thing happened. Hang/crashed and drain the battery so FAST...but would not accept charging. Had to return it to the store, but didn't accept replacement for another unit, instead got an Acer A1 724. Then they revealed that it is the 3rd unit returned with basically same problem. They can't tell if it is the Hardware or Lollipop. I hope Asus is careful before brining in product into the market.Totally disappointed, as I am believer of their laptops. I hope they emply same quality work w/ their cellphone & tablet lines. BTW, very satisfied w/ Acer. I am not connected with any of the 2 companies mentioned.
In case you are trying to run the game clash of clans by SuperCell, or Boom Beach from the same game company, then please note that this game is buggy over android 5.0.2 , lollipop. For more info you can search in SuperCell forums. The game crashes over all sort of devices which are running lollipop. It worked well over KitKat though.
nickname, 27 Aug 2015Do it have usb on-the-go support? What else you can do with USB on this device? USB thethering is supported here. Which means that you can make zenpad a hotspot over USB to 3G thethering. And then use your PC to connect to the internet via zenpad. Same works just ad well over WIFi when you configure zenpad 7.0 ad a WiFi hotspot.
