it's a nice phone that satisfies multimedia needs, it looks great, but the phonebook really sucks. If you have more than 400 contacts, like me, you get completely lost. Phonebook cannot sort your contacts alphabetically, you have to press up and up and up for hundreds of times.

i like the phone, but the battery life is pap, and everyone below is right; it's really hard to hear calls.
but it's got a good camera, and cam and microSD card but the menus are laggy which is a bit annoying in 2007

yea, i agree. calls are hard to hear. I keep thinking i'm going deaf, but i pretty sure it's the phone. I have to put it on speaker most of the time just the hear it.
Also, there are lags everytime you use the menu or make a call.
Otherwise, phone is ok.

This is BY FAR the best phone I have ever had. Pictures do not do it justice. Awesome looks, great MP3 and video player, FM transmitter works great along with the FM radio, camera is one of the best (30FPS) battery life is ok, but you can get a extended life battery off ebay for like $18... all around one of the best phones out there...

Can anyone who has this phone say what the call quality is like? I'd like to have a phone that works really well as a phone. I've been disappointed with my Nokia 6230i. The microphone picks up tons of background noise, in anywhere but the quietest places. people always complain to me about it when I'm talking to them.
I wondering if a flip phone like this might work better, since it places the microphone closer to the mouth. Perhaps the microphone is adjusted not to be so sensitive? Anyway, I'd really like to know what the call quality on this phone is like.
Thanks.

Yes.. aaand yeah, I like the design of it, but it has one disadvantage believe it or not, at least there's a thing that bugs me, that's the black tube sticking out on the top :( they say it's more sturdy this way, but i prefer it covered with the shells, like razr and stuff, anyways, for the rest the design is awsome! although I'd place the camera on the back, it'd look neat. and the backside should be silver as well, anyways, I got it yesterday but already saw all the functions of it and I gotta tell you, the inside of this phone is like woooow! really sweet, also pretty intuitive which i like, just like the themes on it and the rest of what you call the innerjob, it looks fab to me.

Hi everyone,
I got the ef71, just recently and to be honest it's a very nice phone. BUT not perfect. i don't think any phone is. So here's a quick review of the pros and cons.
Pros.
Looks absolutely fantastic! it's up there with the RAZRs. It's not paper thin, but when you hold it in ur hands it feels solid and sexy. Its a really well designed phone.
The screen is also really good, bright and clear. easy to read in the light.
The features of this phone is awesome, fm tuner to play ur mp3s out of ur car radio is handy, webcam, USB. It's pretty feature packed, but there's some cons in regards to the features.
CONS
THE CHARGER does not have a cover!. I'm comparing this to samsung phones where the charging slot may have a cover or rubber cap to stop the dust getting in. The EF71 lacks that and that's really important so that the dust doesn't get in.
The FM tuner is great but the range is pretty poor. The phone basically has to be within max of 50 cm from the radio, before you get inference.
The menu, is a tad slow. i.e when ur going to your phone book of looking for numbers it is tad slower than nokia's and samsungs.
Battery life isn't too bad, but on full power (there's a power saving mode which is really useful!) with about 2-3 hrs call and mp3. you'll need to charge it everyday. But the USB charging is very useful though
Overall, very happy with the buy. it was 450 AUD, from ebay. which is average priced. 7.5/10

Always a big fan of Siemens, never use nokia, ericsson or shit like motorola, because I think Siemens has the most user-friendly interface. I just get this EF71 after my CX75 was stolen and liking it very much. The only drawback is that, eventhough it's pretty user-friendly, it's not as smart as the way the Germans designed the interface on Siemens. I.E.
- If you want to delete multiple SMS, you have to do it one by one, whereas in my old CX75, I can simply mark multiple messages and just one click, I can delete them all at once.
- Also, when you want to add more phone number, you cannot just copy and paste it into existing contact, but instead have to do it manually.
- Writing and sending SMS is not as straight forward as in Siemens, you have to go through multiple procedure, if EF71 cut one or two process, it would be much more simple.
- Previous feature on Siemens, like when you hit the keypad few seconds longer, it would gave you the associated number, but EF71 doesn't have this feature.
BUT.. despite all I like the phone very much. It's has a pretty chic design and overall, the interface is pretty user-friendly compare to other brands like nokia, ericsson or motorola.
