its a very good phone and the faetures r great.the only thing that frastrates is the fact that u cant get its accesories e.g the housing,battery.if only tis issue can be addressed ill appreciate

I did not use a mobile worse than this one, it is slow slow slow slow that sometimes i want to step on it with my feet hoping it will work faster.
any way to all who buy this mobile don't consider buying it a bad luck but take it as a test from God to your patient and when you have enough money to buy a new one don't think twice do it and keep S88 to remind you how a patient wonderful person you are.

All I can say it's good enough for me as a student. First, it has a 2 mega pixel camera. Second,it's cheap. Third and last,you can't find anymore of these babies and if you have one of these like me well, were unique unlike Nokia's that are very common. I would like to thank Benq for making this phone and I would like to extend my condolences to Siemens, hope you guys can be back on track.-Peace^_^

i try mini opera 100% work for browsing
but i e buddy,ym mess,yago, not responsible
i can't fine (ym)mesengger software work properly with s88.
any body can help me?

This is a great phone.Everything works like it should work.And it has outstanding battery performance(7 days without recharging and i'm a heavy user)

hi,i am 4m bd.when i use 1.29 software it can download large file like 800kb-1mb bt it n't support java properly.nw i use 1.32 software it support java software properly bt i can't download large file..

If you look for a smartphone then buy a Nokia or a SonyEricsson or an HTC....
This is an entertainment day use phone with good specs. Not the top of teh range like many people expect!

What you gonna face after buying it:

#Slow camera, work very bad on moving object comparing to SE or Nokia.

# No playlist on MP3 player.

#No Text file reading option.

# Large Java file not supported. In fact only 5-8% of java program will run on this set even they are small in size.

# image editor is really nothing but crap.

# Can't differ between "Blue" & "Indigo" color despite having OLED display.

# Slow animation & 3GPs require less frame rate to play smoothly.

#Bluetooth doesn't support remote controlling with PC or BT chat program.

# Using Opera Min is almost impossible in ths set.

If I can remember other demerits, ;ll let you know.

For new buyers, Don't buy it! Rather give your money to poor, you'll have more satisfaction than using this phone.

this phone is awful.
I bought it hoping for better replacement for my S75 business phone but instead a got a worst phone i can ever have. The camera is fine but not in the same level with those camera phone from SONER it can't accept large size java apps, and many other disabilities if you ever own a siemens phone, never consider this,i'm still trying to get rid of mine

IN reply to this i can only say, if Siemens was near to a quality of this brand, they would never end.
I had many Siemens and many gave so many headaches and a lot of problems, sepcialy the last series (75) with the worst battery perfomance i ever had the chance to manage.
Every phone has their downsides itīs natural theirīs no such as a perfect phone.

why this phone is not currently supported by opera mini & mig33? Again it does not show full screen video. I am totally frustated. Plz explain.

the features is good as like camera,mp3 and others multimedia and also for its OLED great colour etc....the phone is so grate for multimedia...but someone says video dose not show as full screen...please contact with siemens house(only for bangladesh)...at gulshan..your problem will be solved...for others user for there problem..pls log on to www.benq-siemens.com and also with your local siemens coustomer care...wishing all the best

Well as you should know by now, unfortunately BenQ-Siemens no longer exists so you it will be very hard for you to find any retail shop with accesories, however you you can try this website www.club-siemens.net then choose Webshop.

i lost my data transfer cable. Thus i cant copy out the all the *.amr file saved in the voice recorder. is there any alternative way to copy the information out from the phone memory? Where can i purchase the cable again?

OK itīs true it has some shourcomings, but hey many other phones have.
The software is fine if you donīt get much fuzy about it, every function is placed where it shoud be.
The thing i must praised about this phone itīs his steadiness, i donīt remember at all to need to remove the batery because the phone frozed.
This is the best phone i ever had, and i had many Siemens.

I wouldn't say the S88 is disgusting or other similar words. But I just warn those who are tempted by this beautiful and attractive phone, with many features (especially multimedia), that it has 2 MAJOR negative points :
- it's VERY VERY VERY slow (no way to be better, it concerns the hardware)
- the interface is absolutely not ergonomic, unlike the old wonderful Siemens phones. This leads to press many keys more than necessary, and increase the slowness of this phone. For this point, we hope a software upgrade, still unavailable in december 2007.
Some examples :
- to get your call list, press the "on" button, it will take around 5 seconds to see your list.
- to find a name in your adress book, for example "Samia", you must press ONCE the button "7" and wait (you'll see the list beginning with "p"), then ONCE AGAIN and wait (list beginning with "q"), then ONCE AGAIN and wait (list beginning with "r"), and finally the same button to see the list beginning with "s" !!!! If you press quickly 4 times on this button, you'll get the "p" list anyway.
- the management of the adress book is awfull. For example, if someone, whose mobile number is in your phone book, calls you with his office number, you cannot add this number in the same contact : you must exit, remember or write the number on a paper, then add the number to the contact. VERY VERY heavy operation.
- the management of the notes is awfull too, and in addition, you cannot exceed
- no "copy-paste"
- etc...
It's a good phone for those who don't need speedness or notes, for those who have a few contacts, in particular young people.
But these young persons are speed champions when writing messages, therefore they would be disappointed by this very slow S88.

I have been using s88 for few months. I think it's a good cell phone. The problem is it's software. My firmware version is 1.29 I use a 1GB memory card! I have been able to connect with Grameenphone wap but not MMS. It's not working. I manually configure the GP wap/MMS connection settings. Now I use opera mini 3 (basic version) It doesn't support opera mini 3 advanced version and opera mini 4. Through opera mini 3 (basic version) I can easily browse all kind of websites even orkut and most of the common messenger. But problem is basic version doesn't support any kind of download from internet or video playing! It is also compatible with mig33. I have downloaded mig33 from internet and installed in my s88 through data cable. But mig33 is not supported by any cell phone network in Bangladesh. Actually recently all the networks stop mig33. I want to upgrade my firmware but it isn't available on net. Well, I can't understand why this phone doesn't support opera mini 4? Opera mini 4 is the latest software for internet access. If it supports opera mini 4 then it would be one of the best cell phone. Java is ok but battery becomes low when playing java related games or using opera mini. Please share your comments.

I the official trained technician for benq-siemens in East Africa,i understand some of the comments in this site are true,the manufacturer should revive after sales support in this region and some of this promblem like sw update will be solved.
