Blackberrys are all very bad phones. They are ugly to begin with. They are not smartphones or pocket pc's because they have no WLAN.
This 8800 is not exception. It's an amateur poseur's smart phone.

I love the blackberry series! although the pearl had a bad batch it was still great. the 8800 has a few more redeaming features, but i agree, there is no point in making another BB almost identical to the pearl and charging heaps more for it WITHOUT 3G!!! and they've taken the 8707g off the shelf! best BB ever made. can u download the BB BROWSER to another sort of pda? it would make life cheaper.

Love the BB8800 as far as it goes, but won't buy until RIM put 3G into it. Here's hoping that the BB8900 has it.

The GPS is offered through applications such as Telenav. $9.99 per month - turn by turn audio navigation, business finder, gas finder...

I decided to get a Blackberry 8800 to receive our corporate e-mail. Prior to this I was using a SonyEricsson P990i. I could not get Blackberry Connect to work on that with Rogers Wireless (Canada).

The BB8800 not only met, but exceeded, my expectations for receiving email from work. It was a bonus to be able to receive personal emails too (via BIS). Only after using it did I realize that it basically becomes my Outlook extension. It's wonderful.

The hardware is good. The screen is big, clear and can be very bright. The keyboard is easy to use considering it's small size. Overall constuction is good - although not as solid "feeling" as my SE P990i.

I had to get used to how the BB OS works. It was not so difficult. I guess it was just a learning curve since I was so used to my SE P990i. What I love about the BB8800 is how responsive it is. I applaud RIM in prioritizing responsiveness over eye-candy.

The roller-ball is a good navigation tool. I can't really complain, but I would agree with some reviewers that it would help if it were easier to press.

The only complaint I have really is that the 'P' key seems to require more effort to register a key press.

As for GPS, it works well with the BB maps program. I found it useful when I was looking for an address in Montreal.

I would recommend the BB8800 to anyone considering it.

To: SF BAY AREA
??? Simple solution was to say, "Give me another."

On T-Mobile the BB service, unlimited data) is 20.00. Email will not work without it anyway, so it must be added. With the 20.00 plan...the GPS is included.

I have had the BB-8800 from T-Mobile USA for about two weeks. T-Mobile tech. support has been great. I admit the software was not as easy to understand as Palm...but all-in-all it very nice.

It handles e-mail, sms, and mms perfect. That was what I needed and it's a 10 in that regard.

Bluetooth headset was easy!

I have a Macintosh, and it's fully campatible using the BB for mac software.

Phone is load and clear.

No issues so far.

Wish, however, it had a camera. I do miss that. But, if I had to exchange the texting functions for a camera...I'd keep it the way it is.
