The phone is really good, this is my first Blackberry and I'm surprised with it.

Although I don't have the data plan, I can access web pages via wifi, and with Palringo or JiveTalk I can access IM with notifications.

It doesn't have camera because its a professional oriented phone but its a very good phone.

One thing you should take care before buying a blackberry phone, specially if it was used by other person: the blackberry phones needs to be unlocked by the carrier in two ways: the sim card lock and the BB Pin lock.

If the sim card lock is on, you can take the phone to a unlock store and have it unlocked, but if the PIN is locked, you will need to call the previous owner of the phone to tell him to call the company which provided him the service to request a BB Pin unlock for the phone, so you can use all the blackberry features like internet, Messenger etc...

If you use the phone with sim unlocked and BB PIN locked, you can only make calls and send sms ONLY.

You could access webpages via wifi but not via carrier with the Pin lock on.

I have been using it for a while now...I would give a 5/5 to this device as a professional's phone, 3.5/5 for Internet, but only because it is limited to GPRS data tech.

It has a very slim casing and the form factor is also well distributed along the weight so 4/5 goes to the overall exterior.

4/5 for ease of access and compresinve menu system....

In summary, I really appreciate this device from RIM and would therefore, recommend it to people who has never tried BlackBerry and want to test it as their first. However, this phone should have had camera to make it more competitive to other smartphones.

this would have been a great phone if not for two very important things:
1. the "pearl" is its weakest link. very easy to get damaged
2. if no.1 happens to you, the technical service REALLY sucks! one year to get a replacement unit - in the Philippines anyway.

> In reply to WaLdZ @ 2009-05-27 08:56 from wr23I'm using the Javelin 8900 and by looking at the 8820 specs and my experience with my handheld, i'd totally recommend the Javelin.

they do have the settings it depends in who you speek to and how you ask for them make up a big story by saying i have an unlocked blackberry and i need the settings can you please give them to me please or something like that or just make the phone call last 20 mins and make things revolve around the fcat that you need them and you will be set up with them then

Hi Guys,

I just got my BlackBerry service activated on Vodafone connection; and the feeling is awesome. I have synchronised all my business and personal accounts on it. I am also endless chatting with my friends on Yahoo Messenger, Gtalk, MSN Messenger and of course BlackBerry Messenger.

THIS DEVICE IS OUT OF THIS WORLD....

Kudos to Research In Motion.

Cheers
