i have a blackberry 8830 but it doesnt show edge everytime i try to connect with my network. it only shows gprs. what could be wrong?

i am from Myanmar/Burma. I received blackberry 8830 as a gift from US but the battery is gone and not working. So how can i buy it? I found out in bang kok but it didn't work due to fake one. Therefore please help me how can i buy that?

i hav it in verizon type and when i like want to load in airtime it dazent do that by pressing *114# and it has neva logd in via bbm,internet its work z jst to call or receive and pour batry it has
