Does anyone know if an unlocked 8830 WE will work with Bell data? I can get voice but no data and BELL seems angry that the phone is ALLTEL and not a BELL brand? I am wondering if they are just being difficult. Thanks

my understanding blackberry 8830 is compatible with both gsm and CDMA . if it were so , then in countries where there is 3G gsm can be used for data and CDMA has proven to be quite stable for voice and inexpensive when roaming specially in countires like USA , India

This phone is not compatible with American GSM; thus in US the phone works in CDMA. However, when I was in Europe I bought a sim-card of a local mobile service, inserted it into the phone and it was working perfectly.

cdma is right
you cant use gsm when you want
you need a cdma carrier and they provide you with a sim card
so it is useful its up the the user to make the best of it personally this could solve a lot of problems for certain people
by the way blackberry bluetooh to transfer phone books from other devices is horrible and doesnt hardly ever work just type in your self sucks but if you got nothing better to do pay some one else to do it
(little brother needs 20 bucks?)

its only to be used with a cdma carrier
gsm only works if your outside cdma coverage
range and you cant switch between gsm and
cdma it chooses gsm by itself if it ant find a cdma signal but
with a little hacking i think it can be done
