> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-06-24 20:45 from q}a5 - click to readThis is the latest for CDMA users, the 9700 is the latest for the GSM users. Both are similar but for different types of networks. If your carrier is GSM, the 9700 will most likely support 3G on it, if you unlock the 9650 and use the SIM card in it (it is a world phone so it has GSM capabilities) it will only use EDGE.

> In reply to Azizah. @ 2010-06-17 13:48 from fu@j - click to readThe Bold 9700 is GSM only and uses GSM 3G. The Bold 9650, aka Tour2, is a world phone. The Tour line was pretty much an update for the 8800 World Edition CDMA phones, which is why they were called World phones. The Storm also had this option built in. The SIM slot is for when you leave your country, or unlock the phone to use on a GSM carrier. It still is sold mainly as a CDMA phone, which means it doesn't need the SIM card to operate and runs on 1xEV which is CDMA 3G. There are 2 speeds, REV-A and REV-O (I think that's what they're called) and the fastes is REV-A.
The 9700 is built strictly for GSM networks. But, the only advantages this "Bold" has over the 9700 is more internal mmemory (512mb vs 256mb) but that will soon be evened out because there was a 9700a being released with the same amount of memory.

> In reply to BB @ 2010-04-27 19:27 from ixTA - click to readIs it a GSM phone or CDMA or both? In comparison to 9700 under 3G it also has HSPDA 2100 aside from CDMA/EVDORevA 800/1900 and the 9700 has HSPDA 850/1900/2100 and HSPDA 900/1700/2100. What does this mean? Does it use the same network as 9700 + another network?

> In reply to BB @ 2010-05-02 09:55 from ixTA - click to readHey! Seems u know much. Is it a GSM or CDMA or both? + when I compared, there was a difference in OS, CPU. U said it uses CDMA/EVDO network but it also mentions HSDPA 2100 (9700 has HSPDA 850/1900/2100 and HSPDA 900/1700/2100). I don't understand all these specifications. Can 9650 do all that 9700 can do? What are the shoertcomings in relation to 9700?

> In reply to P @ 2010-05-02 16:50 from wdDA - click to readYeah. But is it a CDMA or GSM or both? I'd rather buy it than 9700, everyone down here has the 9700 n I love a little uniqueness. And pls do u know the actual differences in CPU, OS n 3G?

> In reply to Ansh @ 2010-06-10 12:46 from 2Zbb - click to readThe name was changed before it was released for unknown reasons. The most common belief is that it was to avoid running into more issues with Tour users, being that the Tour had a lot of issues everywhere. They were already pissed at having their device reach EOL less than a year after release. Also, now the CDMA users can have a Bold as well, being that the Bold series is top-notch compared to other models.
