I was considering this Blackberry but have decided to go Nokia N8. I am on pay as you go and was disappointed that Blackberry charge extra to use the internet, etc.

I think RIM are missing out on people like me who do not want to be locked in to costly contracts or want to pay extra for a bolt on just to use the services.

Hi frens,

Just got my new BB 9780 a couple of days back and thaught of sharing my views.
This is not my first Blackberry. I have used them since the time they had scroll wheels on the side.
In between I moved to Symbians and Androids.

I have to say this phone and the OS are technological marvels from RIM. The New OS6 is brilliant. The qwerty keypad has always been top of the notch.
5 MP cam is more than sufficient for me. I know that other multimedia brands are comming up with 12 MP, but I have an SLR to capture my frames!!
The point is 5MP on a business phone is more than sufficient.
The screen resolution is brilliant.
512MB RAM is what we used to get in desktops not very long ago, so its needless to say that the applications fly.
Many phones handle emails fine, but no other phone can meet the flawless email execution of BB.
Social networking, youtube are etc are also very neat.
Overall I am impessed!! and would recomend this phone to any one who is looking to upgrade.

On the bold 9780 can you listen to music (that you've downloaded) while texting, looking through photos etc; ?
Because i realized it doesnt have the play/pause./stop button like the curve so i dont know if it can do that.

Yes absolutely...
Its the biggest nonsense i have ever faced..

You can send files to other cellphone but cannot receive from them through bluetooth...

BB sucks on this...

> In reply to atef @ 2010-12-07 13:44 from fuGQ - click to reada bit complicated, but you can. u have to pair up the device first. once your paired up, u can send out easily. BUT if you want to receive, you have to go to multimedia and pick an option of "receive using bluetooth" otherwise, the other device won't be able to connect to the bb.

> In reply to atef @ 2010-12-07 13:44 from fuGQ - click to readYou must add the bluetooth device and then go to the particular media group the item to be received belongs. Then you click the BB menu button and select receive via bluetooth.

Hope you win...

Without a doubt the best phone I have had. OS6 is amazing (a few bugs in the initial version) but after updation very smooth. Nothing comes close to the 9780 ! well done RIM
