I would like to know what is the highest resolution of video you can play on the blackberry curve 8520,and is it possible to watch movies on it,because I like the design but I wonder is the screen any good or is the curve 8900(that is not that nice)a better choice. Thanks in advance :-)
guys..help me choose, blackberry gemini or samsung b7320 or htc snap....im using E71 now but want to try new OS...which is high mobility winmo or blackberry OS ??? thks
btw,,, 3G r switchable... so however u hate it(LoL) its still okay, just 1 click n puff(gone), by that im sure addin' 3G still could be a great deal....
blackberrian, 05 Mar 2010dasparion, yes..i got ur point..but to me using the 3g will decrease ur battery life for noth... more3G drain ur batt faster if u max out its capability(use both data n normal voice/message line at same time) OR if u use dual mode OR if u have a crazy rodeo signal reception. others afaik will be not cz 3G only pick 1 or 2(from 3) radio freqs instead of GSM/edge which is on Quad band(4 freqs), as i said carrier divide connection to 2: BB APN n normal APN, most of carrier give special service to BB APN to make it more stable, then u'll see other who doesnt use BB fight for normal thin bandwidht.... fortunately some carrier here(dunno there) give some special service to some normal APN user to get some priority... i test both gemini n e63 for my full mobile use, gemini aprxly last 10hr, e63 aprx last 17.5hr LoL really need some boost here! now i manage them to do different n specific task... cz most of time im on 'the field' n do heavy task(so phones too) so i should get some distance out of electricity plug.... Anyway, cmiiw n suggestions r welcome...

I thought it had the 1300mAh battery. Still, 2-3 bars after nearly 12 hours of heavy usage is great for this phone.
dasparion, 05 Mar 2010i do know the EDGE performance,,, some(actually most of) carrier give some special service on ... moredasparion,
yes..i got ur point..but to me using the 3g will decrease ur battery life for nothing..n to jrf is it true gemini has 1300 mah?as far as i know it only has 1150 mah(read the spec given)
dasparion, 05 Mar 2010i do know the EDGE performance,,, some(actually most of) carrier give some special service on ... moreI'm not sure I understood that about 3G on an ordinary line and stuff, but my EDGE is fast enough for suring forums and light sites like that. It's true battery life isn't good when you use 3G or wifi. But, BB's have always had good battery life. But, this curve has a 1300 mAh battery (I think) nad it's enough to get 1-2 days of medium to heavy usage. I use mine alot, I disconnect my phone around 930am, use it all day for surfing forums, commenting, texting, calling and most of all FB+Windows Messenger. At the end of the day, aroung 1030pm I still have like 2.5 bars. Around 30%. Then I just leave in Standby mode, and charge it at 830 am when I wake up. And it still has at least 2 bars. That's plenty for a small battery taking on data 99% of the day I'm awake. Still the Bold which has a 1500mAh battery lasts a lot longer than that. Even the e71 which has a bigger battery too. But they are 3G, so I can probably get the same amount of usage but I'd be able to use YouTube without wifi!! And one thing I really don't like is that surfing on the internet, either 3G or EDGE on BB is slower than other phones. Mainly because it's not a WebKit browser (coming soon!!) and because BIS requires all data to go through RIM's servers before reaching your handset, this minimizes data size so you don't run-up a large bill if your data is limited.
blackberrian, 05 Mar 2010LOL..that is y u dont know the EDGE performance in this device..coz u didnt use it..!i do know the EDGE performance,,, some(actually most of) carrier give some special service on BB APN connection.... thats y we get stable/better EDGE performance than other 3G by ordinary line.... but here i got some special data plan so i can use stable 'ordinary' 3G line on other set.... still way faster.... think that if this BB could grab 3G or even HSDPA(or maybe i'll upgrade to get on those :D)... still IMO BB couldnt hand much online task(more if u use it like me)... the battery life wasnt good enuf,,, dont push me to pack this up w/ custom made electricity/batt LoL
dasparion, 04 Mar 2010i only took couple hour to get into,,, hehe... anyway, 3G still could be a big deal... 2mbps w... moreLOL..that is y u dont know the EDGE performance in this device..coz u didnt use it..!
JRF, 05 Mar 2010@Blackberrian My Facebook app is working now, at least it has been for the past 40 minutes. ... morebro..thanx god man..mine also working like usual, like it should be..act,i didnt notice about this coz right now im bz chatting in FB via my laptop n i heard all the notifications coming through my cool gemini besides me but i just ignore it..then when i saw ur post here saying that urs working like normal again..then i simply check n nahh it back to normal dude..y was that huh..its kinda weird if something happen to my gemini it also looks like happen to u also..hahaaha..i think this is something to do with the BIS..maybe when we connected through the same medium although u n i or everybody stay so far away frm each other but the things happened in the BIS will effect to all subscriber..what say u?
My Facebook app is working now, at least it has been for the past 40 minutes. How's yours?
Was going to buy the 9700, but what put me off was the price. It is a fantastic handset, but when it comes down to the cash... an extra €250 between the 8520 and 9700 it was not worth the few extra features. Only real extra features are 3G a slightly faster processor. Nervously I got the 8520 and am so happy I did not waste the extra cash. If money is no concern 3G and the processor are great, plus the 9700 looks amazing astatically but 8520 is still the better buy for the money, which is always my most important decider for me!
Love my BB. Used to be a Sony Ericsson fan, but really really happy with this one. Took me a while to get into it, particularly with the tiny buttons, but now i've got it 100% covered. Brilliant for email, huge storage capacity, I wouldn't change a thing. I went Black, definitely not going back... ;-)
Anonymous, 04 Mar 2010Bro,it tooks u 4 days to get into it?haha..it tooks me only 2 days to get into this device..3g... morei only took couple hour to get into,,, hehe... anyway, 3G still could be a big deal... 2mbps way too fast,,,, but the + side of 3G absence was that i dont use BB to get online primarily, so give me some distance to mobiles nightmare,,, the downtime aka charging haha LoL
