hi, this is the first blackberry i have owned and i have to say its a joy, i got the phone free on a £20 a month contract 24mths tmobile, it was a couple of hours before i got the hang of the menus/setup etc but now i find it so easy, the keyboard is a joy and the trackpad is amazing, it works a lot like a laptop, the internet is just like a laptop too, i have just purchased a samsung n130 netbook, i think if i got the phone first i wouldnt have bothered with the netbook. camera is not bad but you hardly go out to take great pictures with your phone do you. all in all i would recommend this phone to anyone, 5 stars
Mr.mirz I have no idea why it is cheaper but its same as other bb phones...and I don't think u should exchange n97 for this mobile unless u think n97 is too big for u.....
Navin, 28 Dec 2009Hi JRF,
The gmail issue was raised to service provider and they did take it up with rim can... moreHey Navin! If you see this, check it out! I found this thru a forum reading about push email problems and remembered that you had a similar problem:
It's my first time to get BB phone if ever but before I do so, I want something cleared first. It's about BIS plan. We don't have BIS plan yet in our country. Now, if you don't subscribe for a BIS plan, is it true that you CANNOT send/receive e-mails or have instant messaging (i.e. YMessenger) on the phone? OR is it only referring on the up to the minute e-mail service (same like PUSH e-mail) that WILL NOT be available if you don't have BIS plan? Say you'll just surf the internet or open your e-mail on a regular internet browser like opera mobile or internet explorer, is it still possible or not? I hope I'm making a point here and not sounding too dumb, I'm just not sure what this BIS plan is.. I'd appreciate anyone's help, thanks...

BB8520 gives option to hide the pictures. Can you please help me how to see these pictures again on the phone and un-hide them again. I dont seem to figure our a way to do it. However, I am able to see the hidden pics when I connect the phone to my laptop. Thanks in advance..
Anonymous, 01 Jan 1970Depends on your requirement. Not sure if you want to access office emails on your phone and if your firm allows access from both Nokia and Blackberry. If yes, then opt for E71 as its more rich in multimedia functions. E63 and BB 8520 are very close from a multimedia features, though I prefer the key pad of E63 more.
is blackberry a phone or a fruit hahah! seriously though wifi is a good feature to have like many other phones...having red hang up button and green call button is a great idea! good work blackberry hahaha!

Jrf, 28 Dec 2009Well, it depends. If you're in to streaming vids and picture taking then I would recommend som... moreI agree with Jrf. The most important think is your need vs budget, which is value of money. Everyone knows that 9700/9000/8900 is having more features than 8520. My father just bought one BB 8520. Since he only use it for phone call, sms, & mail, then it fits his need... with reasonable cost, of course.
I am planning to pick this phone(8520)next week can any one help me with expert comments which is a better buy 8520 or 8820 and why other then the fact that the later does not have a camera.
Any inputs will be appreciated.

bbaddict, 29 Dec 2009hey .. im going to buy tbb curve 8520 tomorrow . it's kinda cheap . but , is it worth buyin... moreJudging by your name, you are a BB user or a great admirer of BB, so I guess you know that you'd need BIS for this to work fully? Being in high school I don't think you are willing to buy a more expensive BB so this entry level phone is a great phone to go with. It offers the same thing as the more expensive ones but keeping the price low by giving a flash-less camera with fixed focus, and a more plastic-y build. But the phone works great. If you already own a BB and, say it has better specs, than don't buy it. Unless your really fond of the looks and don''t care that it doesn't differ much from the others. If you own one of the older BB's then, this would make a great and cheap upgrade with the new OS and I think a faster processer. The camera I don't think has changed much. And if you don't use a BB than be sure you're willing to have the BIS service activated otherwise it would be completely useless. PLay around with it if you can to see if you like the feel of the keypad and stuff.
