Yesterday, I went to a mobile store to buy a Blackberry 8520. But, I had to come back empty handed because, the phone is locked with Airtel and has an Airtel logo just below the keypad which makes the phone look like a demo phone. Now, I am a Vodafone customer and I will never want to move to Airtel just to buy a phone. I am sure there must have been a thousand people like me which would have dropped their idea of buying this phone because of this branding and locking. I think I will continue using my IPhone for sometime now.
Anyone else had any such experiences?
liz, 21 Aug 2009hey there. i need your advice... i cant make up my mind between the 8900 and the 8520. i li... morei whould recamend the 8900 because of high res. screen and track ball is very nice and so is the keybored but the 8520 keybored is amazing as well my sisters got her 2 days ago i habethe 8900.
Major diffs bw 8520 n 8900 are that 8900 has better camera with 3.15 mp than 8520 which has 2mp. battery life of 8900 is 1400 and 8520 is 1150. otherwise ram is same 256mb and cpu procssr is also same 512mhz.
But 8520 has optical trackpad and dedicated music keys which is cool.. depends on wat u prefer.. otherwise both are good!
one of the best phone in bb center key very sensetive
the dedicatet music key is chanes less light wight
is it me or is blackberry making their phones worse cuz the 8900 is ten times better
BB Curve 8520 also has UMA technology (Wi-Fi and Mobile Calling)
i need your advice... i cant make up my mind between the 8900 and the 8520. i like both. help please

does anyone know if the bb will allow data access ona pay as you go rather than being on a contract... like a bolton servioce available???
iv spoke to o2 andthey say this isnot possible.
No one ever said that all BlackBerry-phones are locked to a specific network. It depends in which country its being sold and if RIM BlackBerry and any of the provider decide if there is going to be a exclusivity-deal.
In The Netherlands you can buy the phone without contract for about 250-300 euros, and with contract starting 25/mnth

I have to say from my experience with bb i am happy with this handset. THere has not been many changes but changing the rollerball option for a touch sensor was a good idea. I dont know about anybody else but I've had to replace my bb 2 times because of this rollerball. Nightmare why did they just not keep the scroller at the side.
