The best Camera i ever had! Better quality than My Touch 4G Slide (i have one). The killer of this phone is AT&T. They control what apps. is installed in your phone, for that reason i chose the T-Mobile My Touch 4G Slide.
About the battery, is good but could be better from RIM. Recently they (RIM) had problems with their servers and this really was a pain. My phone freeze and ... >-(
If you are thinking to buy this phone, the real catching is the camera, for the rest... is a same Blackberry with a good call quality and signal reception (awesome). For Business, perfect! From AT&T, the worst calling and slowest Network in America. The Phone is a "4G" HSPA+...
Jo, 31 Oct 2011Hi what do you think when somebody says this (on 9800 opinion and comments, I copy it), thanks... moreI think the post is somewhat right. It's all a matter of what you are comparing it to. The battery life is bad compared to other BB models, but better than a lot of other smartphones. My friend with his HTC Evo would love to have the battery life I have with either the 9800 or 9810. He can't go more than about three hours of heavy use before needing to recharge. I have found the slider to be very well built compared to others (like Palm Pre models for example. Yes the 9800 does lag sometimes. It doesn't have the screen resolution or processor to compete with the iphone or high end android phones. It wasn't meant to. It's strength is that it has both a physical qwerty keypad and a touchscreen, making it a smartphone for someone that texts and emails a lot. Also, the Universal Search is great. If you are heavy into video watching, get a different phone. The 9800 wasn't made for that. That said, the 9810 overcomes a lot of the performance shortcomings the 9800 had.

9800 is an elegant phone. But do not be deceived by it's beauty. This phone really sucks. Why:
*BATTERY REALLY SUCKS
*SLIDE MECHANISM EASILY GETS LOOSE, IT WOBBLES
Be careful on buying this phone. It is not worth your money.
I love this phone too but am caught up with decision to take concerning whether I should buy Torch 9810 or Bold Touch 9900(which I heard the battery life is horrible ). Please who has the right answers for me?
campbell, 26 Oct 2011what is the distinctive difference between torch 9800 and torch 9810? The short version. The processor is twice as powerful and the screen resolution is better on the 9810. Read my take on them both in earlier posts as well as some great info from others here:)
what is the distinctive difference between torch 9800 and torch 9810?
Love dis phone it lighter n faster, pic qualities is great I does what I wants it to, my problemn is it freeze up a bit too much! Can RIM out phones with radio plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz we waiting like forever!
Well pleased with my 9800 but have 12 months remaining on my contract. Probably one of the best phones I have used so will be upgrading to this soonest - the other phone, I hear you ask, which was brilliant was a Samsung D260 - still doing fantastically after 8 years, where their new products (Omnias) completely failed)

I love this phone. Performance wise...it was really fast when downloading application. I just hope the track pad & the slider won't get busted easily.
I have a 9800 and the 1.2ghz processor, together with upgraded O/S system 7 and hiigher resolution make a very good phone even better. The keyboard is very good despite all the comments to the contrary. If you are into texting, networking this is a brilliant phone. Get a Seidio clamshell belt case plastic and you have a very strong, compact, capable, sophisticated communications device that works very well with the Playbook.
Cecilia, 17 Oct 2011Hey, what's your take on the BB bold touch? I am due for a upgrade, never had a BB before. . .... moreIt is a matter of form factor mostly as the two are similar software wise. I like sliders better so I have the Torch. That said, I understand the battery life is much better on the Bold than the Torch.
Cecilia, 17 Oct 2011Hey, what's your take on the BB bold touch? I am due for a upgrade, never had a BB before. . .... moreIts a very nice smart phone that is flexible when it comes to application and download of apps. The camera is sharp and bright in production

i just bought this phone in exchange for a bold 2 in thailand for about 11500 batt more which was a steal i think. i love this phone and it even looks awesome and does everything i want it to do ,
I've had this for a few weeks now, the battery on this is pretty decent. I listen to music, a lot of web browsing, lots of sms and bbm and it lasts me till night. The lag issue just started, but if you power cycle your phone every 2 days, itll be fine. The only complaint i have is that BB OS 7 is boring compared to iOS and android. Yes the browser is smooth and it is truely smoother than the old torch, but thats already been achieved by many andriod devices and apple a few years ago, its nothing to brag about *cough* liquid graphics *cough*.
If you like sliders and is a blackberry fan, then this would work for you. If you expect more than a days use (heavy usage) then look for something else. Bottom line is that this phone works smooth, but its nothing special compared to the competition.
vsmart9, 13 Oct 2011This phone is copy of Motorola Spice XT 300. Black berry i didnt expect you to copy design fro... moreActually, the Torch 9800 came out about the same time as the Spice X300. I initially wanted the Spice, but it was not available in the US. Got the Torch and was very happy. The Spice has a better antenna and better call quality, but not by much. The Torch is better everywhere else, most especially with the camera and battery life. I've heard the Spice has horrible battery life. IMHO, both phones copied the Palm Pre line of phones, which were out well ahead of either of these.
