I bought my M700 five months ago, till one month ago everything was doing well. I could use GPS sotware with google maps, make calls, receive calls, radio, mp3, divx, etc.

What bored me is when you synchronize with PC it just join the Outlook email with your phone contacts and MSN contacts. Then when you need to make a call it is crazy. Don't synchronize your contacts.

Another problem is the Wifi isn't useful as when you connect to a home wifi, the softwares on the phone connect to GPRS network besides everything is configured following the manual.

Recently, I had problems that I didn't find any explication yet. Sometimes I can't make a call or look my emails by GPRS.
When I tried to make a call and the phone/SIM Card connects with the phone network, my M700 just freeze and show me a black screen and turn the keyboard lights on.
I need to turn off my M700, removing the battery, and remove the SIM Card, put the battery again, turn it on. It will claim the SIM card. Turn off everything, GSM, Wifi and Bluetooth. Turn it off again, put the SIM card on the slot, and turn on. If I have luck it will work, therefore I need to do this many times till it works.

If you are thinking that could be the SIM card or network mobile problem, be careful, as I tried many different SIM cards and from different companies.. I had this problem in Brazil and I'm having it on New Zealand.

If anyone here know the problem, please let me know.

Best Regards,

Adilson Dias

Well what a surprise, I am still having difficulties with a phone that has no product support!
I am in UK on the O2 network. If I connect to my home WiFi and then start surfing the net the phone immediately starts the gprs connection - thus costing me money. Does anybody have the correct settings or any idea how to stop this. thanks guys.

I am very disapointed with this phone. It does not automatically switch between frequency bands - UK - USA. OFTEN it refuses to read the sim card - making it impossible to connect to the network.
Calls are not connected when others are having no difficulity. I purchased what I thought was a good phone and have ended up with rubbish. I am going to get an iPhone instead I think.

The WM6 upgrade is off etencorp.com and GPS software you pick yourself... Route 66 Navigate 7, CoPilot Live 6, and TomTom Navigator 7 all work great in North America.
I love this thing, it's the only one I found that has everything I wanted in a pocket pc: WM6 (after you upgrade it), bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GSM/EDGE, GPS, touch-screen, and a QWERTY keyboard... well, besides the HTC TyTN II, but that one's a little outside my budget.

Guys, the use of the radio only with an earpiece is due to the fact that you would have no signal otherwise. All radios need an aerial(yes really!) and the cable works as the antenna, without this you would probably need a ~1m antenna to pick up a station while listening on speaker.I have Eten M700,with route66 GPS installed, only issue I have is battery read which has a patch.Otherwise very impressed with software and hardware provided on phone

Dang it!
Their official sites are a nightmare! It seems like it's still under construction, except for their original Taiwan based site.
Thank god that I can read and write in Chinese or else I can't even get to download M700's manual online.
There's a patch or two in the site which fixes battery reading errors and POP3 password bugs, but the thing is, you must install .cab files manually.

LOLZ
There's no radio available through the bloody loudspeaker! What a joke!
They can make a phone like this but they can't think of a simple feature like that?!
I'm better off with Moto's E680i, which I can tune in through the loudspeaker, whilst the handsfree is jacked in.

Taiwan made products sucks.

Cpam, I believe that most phone radios require the use of a earpiece/headset, in which the cable connecting the earphones act as the antenna, providing the reception. Unless there's an override attached to this phone to allow it to play both through the headphones and the main speaker, I think you're out of luck.

I am a little amazed to find that I cannot listen to the radio through the main speaker of my M700. Does anybody have an idea if this possible? I am very dissapointed by the lack of support for what appears to be a very good pda despite WM6.

When using the GPS, does the M700 have to connect to the internet (and thereby incur data charges) or can I use it even if I don't have any data plan with my current provider?

I have a M700 and have to agree with many points of the postings:

- No Support replies from ETEN.
- Very confusing WebSite (not clearly stated what downloadable files apply for what WM version or similar). The local agent has an even more confusing structure of the website and guides for some udpates to sub-supplier companies of Software. So it is up to the ETEN user to study these 3rd party software websites to find any possible updates - this is NOT done by ETEN or the Agent and posted on the ETEN site. I looked at least at one such site, but could not find any reference to my M700 there - so how could I find the right updates?
- The Birthday Reminder Software from ETEN distorts all Outlook pictures to a square format
- I use WM6 and 10 days ago it locked me out. Just as I changed battery it did not recognice my lock password any more. so for the rest of my business trip I had no phone at all. Back home I was told that I have to cold-boot the device - i.e. everything gone. Since then the GPS does not work any more ... have to see how to fix it, but support of ETEN leaves much to be desired
- Keyboard has NO illumination for special characters, makes it difficult to use at night
- But some time ago I made the mistake to try the encryption - turned it on. Since then about 70% of the files and software that I have on the memory card can not be read. It seem WM6 is refusing to recognize these files with the addional extension at all. Have also still to see how to solve this issue. So be careful when you turn the Encryption on (it sounds good, but after the first booting the files on the Memory card turn useless.

Good sides I find is the speaker - it is of good volume.

DON"T BUY IT

This device has a lot of serious bugs.

-icons disapeare into thin air.
-list of installed programs also.

-verry bat BT-interface witch makes the use of carkits impossibel.

-Device related activesync problems.

-Radio simply quits on you. Stops dialling. Reset is requiered.

Al kind of vage failures in sending and receiving E-mail. Attachments can't be sent.

This list of bugs is almost endless.

-No support what so ever. The producer doesn't responce to questions.

So DON"T BUY it. Be warned. It looks great BUT IT ISN"T
