Well ShortFuse it looks like in deed you do have a short fuse! The blog in question was written TWO years ago and still WM are stuck on 65K colours mainly because of their refusal to modify the type of screen they use. None of the recommendations the writer made have been implemented and it strongly suggests a lazy attitude. Conversely companies such as Nokia have reached maximum capabilities in terms of colour palette (16.7M colours). Ask yourself why? The answer is a more flexible system in terms of colour representation. The human retina does register a large difference between 65K and 16M colours. Windows Mobile have to catch up.

Anonymous: "How come Nokia implement 16M colour screens without too much fuss whereas Windows are reluctant to invest in the technology that will bring about a similar result?" If you bothered to click the link and read, you would have had the answer to your question.

It would be very easy Windows Mobile to have as default more than 65K. But as there was already explained on this board it is not advantageous as memory and speed expenses to have such color depth for now. There might be better results for the image quality having a higher resolution than QVGA like VGA than higher depth for colors. Also even if the graphical chip supports 256K most of cheap and small LCD screens can’t really reproduce high variation of colors so it might be little noticeable the increase of color number in memory.
WM is more complex and integrates better with PC world than the OS from Nokia. Also there are more and more applications for WM than other mobile OS; the processors from Nokia are much slower than those from Eten and HTC. Those that are Linux warriors in PC world might prefer Nokia over anything based on Microsoft software.

"ShortFuse" : Windows Mobile does support 262K colours. Look at the forthcoming I-mate 8150 Ultimate. How come Nokia implement 16M colour screens without too much fuss whereas Windows are reluctant to invest in the technology that will bring about a similar result? The same goes for the still cameras and camcorders on WM devices.

Windows Mobile doesn't support 262k colors.
see: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsm.../462187.aspx
It's rather difficult to notice and takes up more ram. 65k = 16bit and 262k = 18bit.

Nokia and HTC are weaker as quality than Eten. Nokia doesn’t even disclose for its cell phones the speed of processors, type of chipsets and so on; if those parameters would be on its side against the competitors then Nokia would trumpet them.

To Alissa.
Hey, you are liar, you couldn't buy this model even one month ago but you said you've been waiting two month after you bought it. They didn't even start making this model yet. If you're talking about another e-ten model, then go to that page and cry there freak.

Infrated is a cool feature I would say only to replace a remote control for the TV, for those who need it of course.

Infrared? who needs infrared? It's outdated techonology. They put it just to increment the peripheral counter :).
