To the person that posted the comment about "his wife thought he was in a very loud room due to the noise".. I had the same problem, turns out the problem was that I had cranked the mic gain all the way up trying to get the voice command to work better. The problem is, the gain needs to be LOWER and it's works better and doesn't pick up all the noise in the background.

Looks cool, never had a pda-phone before. was considering ipaq 65xx. This is cheaper but doesn't have wifi. It has SDIO so I can add wifi to it? Has anyone tried it? And whats this about no Java support, I have lots of java games :(

Okay, just got the unit yesterday. Damn this baby's SMALL- a lot smaller than the pics let on.
What can I say- this is one hell of a PDA and an above average phone. It runs at 400MHz but outpaces a 500MHz unit. Installed the WWE 0042 update with no incident- excellent support. Only downside is no Wi-Fi. On a scale of 1 to 10 I give this unit an easy 9...definately a better buy than the JAM. Now if someone could just show me how to get my j2me games up and running (seems like theres no JAVA support)...

'sup fellas...
just ordered the m500. Killer specs. Maybe someone can help me out with this:

Does the phone have j2me support? I have a ton of j2me games from my previous phones that I'd hate to chuck, all in jar or jad format. Help?

if you think universal is too big, you may wanna give da WIZARD a try, which come EDGE, and bluetooth 2.0, size close to i-mate jam.

but if you want da UMTS, then go universal.

This showed today on the official e-ten website:
E-TEN Information Systems is pleased to announce a Windows® Mobile 5.0 upgrade program for its current E-TEN brand M500 Device. The upgrade CD will be available for purchase by users though regular E-TEN distribution channels in December 2005.

So, I think this will get rid of all rumours...

If you want a small pda ,the M500 is the best .If you want a big 3G pda the Universal is better. I prefer the m500 . It's fast , it can be upgrated to WM5 , it has 64Mb ram and 80MB flash disc

The design is cool and compact. Does anyone know how to turn off the large display on incoming SMS's?

Oh...hert.

also, if you haven't noticed, common "Broadband" internet is for computers, UMTS or EV-DO is for phones. This is a GSM only phone, so why don't you buy the Moto A1000 or wait another year for HSDPA.

Oh, sorry i forgot, your camera is better, your computer is faster...and well, your broadband will still be faster too...so just forget it and stick with your machinery. Don't bother with phones, will ya?

@ hert

Ok hert...listen. This is a PDA. Not a computer, not a digital camera and not a pay-phone. You cannot insert coins into this, only Memory cards.
Of course your P3 computer is faster, and of course your REAL digital camera has a higher resolution.

This is a phone with integrated PDA functions and a 1.3 megapixel camera, which is pretty good for...a PHONE.

So do me a favour, first of all: Get yourself a faster computer. Secondly, what do you need this if you've got a better camera. You're just stating the obvious my friend...

This phone has limited functions. Even my pentium 3 computer is faster than this. It's only got 1.3 megapixel?? my digital camera has a higher megapixel.
And most dissapointing, how come the data speed is only 48kbps? My broadband internet is way faster.
I think eten has to step it up a little.

cool pda, bad reception. I thought my motorola was bad. My motorola shows 3 bars at the location where m500 loses connection frequently. also, when you are listening through the receiver, you hear noise, which is very annoying. What is more, my wife called me and thought I was in a noisy place, but in fact I was in my very quiet cubicle.

This device is way better than the Jam/HTC Magician . I had the I-mate jam and and now i have the M500.The M500 has a better camera
, it comes with many programs like voice commander , it's way faster and it has 128MB Rom so it can be updated to WM5
