I suppose one of the mode is not supported. Letting that switch to the other might help. I read some blogs with the similar issues users faced and they recommend to change the USB file system. Right click-->Properties---Change file system. Do a bit of google search to assure you are going to do the right thing. Also, scan for the Autoplay.exe in your USB. That could be an issue for detecting the new hardware in your phone. The Autoplay options are often detected as viruses by the Antivirus softwares. Check out if you have an antivirus SW installed in your phone.

I have updated to Lollipop and the OTG plug n play works fine and same goes for the reverse charging. Once you plug in the white OTG cable that came with the phone, Connect a USB stick into the cable. Allow about 10-60 Secs or even more for the phone to detect the new hardware. A message will pop up once the phone detects the USB stick. I think it will ask for to open/play the media files. You are good to go then. While removing the USB stick, Go to that popup window in the notification area and click on Remove the harware safely. If you still couldn't access after these steps I provided, consult a Gionee Service centre or shoot your query to their customer service in FB.
all can say my m3 is working fine but I can only use the OTG as power bank but it dosnt support external drive as others. can somebody help.
UMESH KUMAR, 03 Jun 2015can any one tell me, after lollipop update what things improve in the phone. is camera perform... moreBy the lollipop update, They took off the Guest mode and custom DTS effects from your music player. The sliding controls access was brought down. You have to swipe from bottom to access the quick settings/controls. Swiping from the top will show you the notifications.I must say the sliding lag is gone. The charging time got reduced as well. From 0 to 100% took me about 4 hrs than the usual 5 hrs. The OTG USB Plug n Play is still there. The camera interface has got few upgrades with a new default app called "Charmcam" where you can beautify your pic and try some filter effects. Other than that, the camera is all same with no performance improvements. The multitasking is all the same with slight lags. It is all to blame the 1GB RAM.

They have authorized their service centers for the free lollipop updates. Nobody need to worry about the warranty, if the phone is updated through the Gionee service center. Installing the Stock Android 5 by rooting your phone will void the manufacturer warranty and lack of installation skills could possibly get your phone soft bricked and Hard bricked.
can any one tell me, after lollipop update what things improve in the phone. is camera performance improved?

First Impression of Gionee M3 Marathon
The Gionee M3 is a decent phone at the price range of 11,900. The built is solid and the 5000MaH battery has quite some thing to offer. It gives upto 2 days battery backup with moderate 3G usage. The battery works exceptionally well for playing music or for watching videos. The display has HD resolution which is good enough to watch videos or for games. There is a lag for the controls slide access with the Android 4.4, however I was told by one of the Gionee Service personnel that the Lollipop/Amigo 5.0 update has already rectified the issue with the update. The DTS effects does produce some effects. The phone is very loud and the clarity is decent. The phone comes with a flip case and also 2 screen protectors.
THE CONS: The camera has no image stabilisation, so the shots often go blurred if your hands are not steady even in the daylight. The Rear and Front camera suffers a lot under the low light with some amount of noise in the shots. The default apps often tends to take some juice even if the apps are not running. Multitasking is mediocre with its 1GB RAM. WLAN and 3G tends to take up serious battery even if you don't use it.
NOTES on Saving Battery for the FIRST TIME USER:
Disable the Weather widget updates.
Uncheck the Google data statistics and analytics Auto-send option
Uncheck the App location tracking
Disable the extreme app controls for whatsapp,FB,Wechat etc..from accessing messages,Contacts, sending E-mails using phone camera.
(To be contd.)
