1&2 Two possible reasons for the misbehavior of your 8GB SDHC card come to mind:
First - your card is of a brand that is not approved by HP and is really incompatible with the hardware of 612c. One such brand is Kingston, some negative reports about SunDisk had been received too. Stick to Transcend and A-Data to avoid any trouble.
The other possible reason may be that your card had been formatted in NOKIA smartphone or a card-reader that does not support the true FAT32 data structure that is required by the HP firmware. The solution here is obvious - install any proven SD-card formatting utility on your iPAQ and try to format the faulty card. I would suggest Resco File Explorer or SKTools.
As for the backup utility - such utility is not included natively in the HP devices since WM5. At the same time there is no problem to install and use some 3rd party software, which will be a far more flexible and reliable solution. I can suggest here SPB Backup and again SKTools as some very good backup solutions.

A couple of things with my new phone:
I went with a 4GB Micro SD instead of 8GB, but my phone does this strange things:
1 it dose not recognise that there is a card intalled.
2 when it does recognise that there is a card install, it shows that the capacity is FULL - maxed out!!
Also my WinMobile2003 has a ipaq backup programme, but i can find it on the 612c. Anyone knows?

> In reply to AFON @ 2008-08-16 20:14 from QLy{reply to myself, just make it work now.
I use rogers, skype won't find the data network connection, only can use WiFi.
After I created a modem entry, name it RogerInternet (what so ever), and add neccesary info in this entry, also make it the default network connection for the "Internet", then it connect to the "rogersInternt" now and work perfectly
With 6GB data plan ($30 per month), now I am on Skype all the time, won't worry the phone bill. (My Skype have a Dial-in number)
hope this can help someone!!!

> In reply to Dan @ 2008-09-04 13:27 from b$2WAs all other WindowsMobile based PocketPC/Smartphones the iPAQ 610 has an onscreen QWERTY keyboard. What is more - there are numerous 3rd party applications that offer even more sofisticated onscreen keyboards like VGAKey, Resco Keyboard, SBP Fullscreem Keyboard, etc. etc. and some of them are even freeware!

Hi Guys,
Anyone knows if this phone has a virtual QWERTY in addition to the numeric keyboard? I would find it useful for emails&messages writing. Thanks!

> In reply to spencer @ 2008-08-24 17:35 from 2Fyr@spencer: I believe that both times you have dowloaded a .CAB file but was not able to recongnize it due to two simple reasons - in your computer the .CAB files are associated with the WinRAR software (which is OK) and also when you open your File Manager, in the Tools > Folder Options menu > View tab the checkbox for the []hide extensions for known file types is checked. Please UNcheck it and then again have a look at the file you have extracted from the .ZIP archive you have downloaded from the developer's site - it's FULL name will be SpoonAlarm.CAB and not SpoonAlarm.RAR. At this point simply copy the .CAB found to your PDA's storage memory or SD-card and continue with the installation as per developer's instructions.

> In reply to NormanD @ 2008-08-20 12:42 from SnLfthanks NormanD. I've just downloaded spoonalarm from the website you mentioned. I then got a winzipped file, after unzipping, I found a winrar file inside. So , Iopened it using WinRAR, then I have in front of me a list of the following files:
_setup.xml 3KB XML Document
INTERO~1.003 284KB 003 file
MICROS~3.001 23KB 001 file
mscorlib.002 206KB 002 file
SPOONA~1.000 1KB 000 file
SPOONA~1.005 291KB 005 file
SPOONA~1.006 15KB 006 file
SPOONA~1.007 58KB 007 file
SPOONS~1.004 1KB 004 file
My question is where is the .cab, is it is in one of these files ?
There don't seem to be any files with .cab extension !?
Thanks

Just recently bought this and really DISAPOINTED! Sending SMS is pain in the A$$ while receiving it's not an issue. Until now no clue how to manually modify its SMS Service Center No as automatic configurations (for Telkomsel HALO) just don't work for SMS & MMS -- no drama for GPRS/EDGE. One more thing, The Pointsec installation's gonna criple down your external mini SD. Really piece of crap!

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2008-08-15 18:25 from TRV@@spencer: Since I'm not sure where you've downloaded SpoonAlarm from, I suggest that you visit the author's site - www.spoontools.com - and try a download of the latest version from there. The archive to download is in ZIP format and inside it is the CAB file you have alredy mentioned, which worked perfectly well for me. :)
