It is absolutely rubbish, you can't hear it ringing!!! So what's the point? It's supposed to be a phone, with which you keep in touch with people and are contactable, not if you can't hear it ringing!!
This has been an issue for over a year and HP have done nothing to help in the way of a rom update, do NOT buy HP products.
Plus the camera is crap.

Try formatting it with Fat32 in windows with a card reader, heaven't tried using 4gb on it though but everything else is working fine. Typical PPC camera, speaker sounds is a little on the low side (especially with MP3's but fixable with MP3Gain to 100) but tolerable, earpiece sound no problem.

worst phone I have ever bought, you cannot hear it ringing, so what's the point? as a PDA it's ok, but it's worthless as a phone, do not buy...wish I had done a little more homework, but who would have thought HP would sell something you cannot hear ringing? utter rubbish!
Edit: rw 6815 I am speaking about

I regret buying 6818. Sent to HP service center twice and they replaced the main board for me, due to 'main page hang' and not able to receive call and not able to call out. I used it for 2 more days and the main page screen hang again. This will be my first and last iPAQ, regreted not buying a 3G phone!!

I bought this last week it was hanging then did a soft reboot.
Why does this happen ? is this a product fault ?
Camera is really lousy .
No problems on messaging or sync . Also looks good and is compact .
Hope I have taken a good decision .

for me, i think there is no problem on syncronysing with any PC(OS XP) and the bluetooth features also OK that it can detect any devices via bluetooth or IR (sending & receaving files), and i didnt having a problem such as hang or what so ever (i am using i gb mini SD Card),but the only problem with this device is the FM Radio Frequency that cannot set below 87.80 Mhz and the camera Flash didnt flashing automatically in the dark place & the volume is too soft...

I regret buying HP model RW 6818 as the ringing volume is soft and systems tense to get hang too frequent. I'm having difficulties in synchornised with my PC and Bluetooth gadget. It really not user friendly. The only good about this device is the camera. Perhap HP should look into this mnatter and assist all the existing owners of the device to enhance those set back systems or program. Even to the extend of recalling this devices or upgrade. With all the set back this device is not value for money.

i hv buy this hp rw6818 :
1. camera is more clear after install ROM update (Date 1.12.2006)but still sucks comparing with others - flash light problem.
2. The sound is too soft, can not hear the phone ringing (while i driving) even with full volume. Have to use vibrate or use mp3file (more than 190 Bit Rate) as a ringing tone
3. Other features are superb!!!

Sad to said that I regret getting this IPAQ 6818 phone.
The software is rather slow and tend to get hang easily.
The speakerphone is very soft...cannot compare to my old Nokia 6100 phone in turns of volume. Its so soft that I've given up using the speakerphone feature.
The worst part about this phone is the camera function. The captured image is usually blurred and dark despite changing the camera setting to improve the lighting.
It takes abt 5 sec to take a picture if you're using the on-board memory.
It takes a whopping 45 sec to take a picture if you choose to save the photo directly onto the storage card. I checked with the HP service center and their reply is that this is normal operating speed for this phone i.e. it is a norm for the phone to take 45 sec to capture a picture. No firmware patch in near future to fix this camera speed problem.
Think twice if you're considering this phone.

I purchased the rw6818 PDA phone 3 days ago. Can anyone tell me where I can get a DETAILED manual on how to use this phone, especially on how to use the camera and how to setup speed-dial for the phone functions. The provided guidelines are rather "shallow" in contents.
Thanks for your assistance.
