If you are comfortable with rooting your phone, then you can install 2.3. I have rooted my Aria and I am now running Android 2.3.7 which is the CM7 V7.1.0 ROM.

What version of Android are you using? If you are using Android 2.2 (Froyo) or higher, then you can move applications to the SD card. Go to Settings - Manage Applications.
