crabby, 05 Jan 2011Desire is a great phone! Definitely lasts at least for 1 day!
@Ray You are so sure that many ... more@Crabby. I expect people to disagree with my views because we are all free thinking individuals and it would be a boring world if we all shared the same opinions.
Even if I was 100% correct in what I say and think, there will always be someone to argue with me. Always.
If you disagree with anything I've said so far, please offer an intelligent debate. I absolutely welcome it.
I'm not posting here to start a flame war. Just to open a solid debate on certain issues.
All the best.
@Annonymous ( both of you ). Agreed, HTC + Android is a far better option than having an Apple iPhoney. Wouldn't touch one with a barge pole.
In response to the WiFi issue though, yes you should protect your wireless network ( mine certainly is ) but that still doesn't give Google the right to illegally scan for unprotected networks and then store login details. After all, they are supposed to be a responsible company, but they appear to have no regard for peoples privacy.
As I said before, they are spying on your incoming emails, which is despicable as the sender has not agreed to Googles terms and conditions for Gmail. For instance, every time I send my friend an email from my Window$ Live account to his Gmail account, my email is being read not only by my friend but by Google also and as far as I'm concerned that is a breach of my right to privacy.
I did say also that Android itself isn't bad, but Google who own it keeps me from wanting anything to do with it.
Thanks for the responses so far. Hope to hear from some more soon.

@Ray You are so sure that many people will disagree your views and opinions as you know it was wrong from the start? Ha ha!
At elast its not an Apple product, who force you to have what they think you want.
As mentioned, if your wifi in unprotected, you deserve what you get.
At least google offer people more apps & customisation so the phones look different. Ive been totally converted to Android and love it.
Jad, 04 Jan 2011About two days ago I bought my HTC desire at first I was glad about it then it turned on havin... moreYou needed to do some research on the battery life first.
I easily get 2 days out of mine (moderate usage) 1 day heavy usage. This is fine as it gets charged every night.
Jad, 04 Jan 2011About two days ago I bought my HTC desire at first I was glad about it then it turned on havin... moreHahaha, please don't tell people not to buy this phone.
Every android phone with first generation 1ghz processor will experience warm temperature on their phone. Your laptop have air vents for a reason, and a fan on your desktop's firetower.
Phone's own way to release heat is the body itself act as a heatsink.
Please do more research.
Jad, 04 Jan 2011About two days ago I bought my HTC desire at first I was glad about it then it turned on havin... moreThe battery last half a day?Are you making calls or surfing the internet? If so i think it is normal. Also you can ask the seller to change another battery for you. After all the functions of HTC desire are amazing.
I hope the battery is good. And can have long standby time then i do noto need to charge it too often.
About two days ago I bought my HTC desire at first I was glad about it then it turned on having overheating issues and the battery last half a day then I went back to the store and returned it back the next day so plz don't ever buy this phone or any HTC phones because it will disappoints you
Ray Hipkiss, 04 Jan 2011 Although the Desire is a top handset, it's biggest downfall is it runs on Android. Now, Andro... moreGoogle is no more evil than any other big corp.
And a for the WiFi issue, If your network isn't protected you deserve all you get IMHO.
Reference for me is the phones, its only flaw is the part the music or the iphone is superior
Although the Desire is a top handset, it's biggest downfall is it runs on Android. Now, Android itself isn't the problem per se, but the fact it is owned by Google.
Google is in my opinion the most evil corporation on the planet. They want to know about everybody's personal lives. Take for instance the way they scan all your incoming and outgoing Gmail emails so as to target you with specific advertising based on certain key words harvested from your Emails.
Not to mention that when they took a photo of your house, for street view, they " accidentally " scanned your WiFi network and collected your networks login details.
Maybe, if another company could produce a Linux based OS for smartphones, and HTC adopted that, then maybe more people would consider getting a HTC.
Just my opinion though, so I'm sure many will disagree. Indeed I hope you will.
Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011No, just your 1st post implied this, sorry. What you now have on Oxygen is the standard Fro... moreMaybee I have succeded in accidentaly doing some magic with my Desire because Oxygen is much better in moving apps to my sd-card, and it manage the memory in a truly magical way because I seem to be able to install infinitely number of apps. Imediately after installation I get a warning that I am running out of memory but after 5 minutes or a restart I again have about 30 mb of free internal memory and then can do the same thing again and install another app..., and all apps I have installed work perfectly without any problem at all.?????
Anonymous, 04 Jan 2011I never said it made the entire external card to an internal memory, I do not want that. No, just your 1st post implied this, sorry.
What you now have on Oxygen is the standard Froyo A2SD. Not all apps can be moved, only those that support this from the dev. Also not all the app is moved only part of it, some has to stay in internal memory.
With a partition and EXT 2/3/4 all apps and widgets can be on the card, so if I was you i'd still apply a partition and use the A2SD+ route to help save space.
