i did all i could to set up yahoo email but i can't see sent mails. i only see the once i sent from the phone but not the once from computer. y? can anyone help me with this? i do have ATT (USA) data plan it is an unlocked phone. HELP anyone?
Quite honestly i am a phone lover so i get bored with the phones quickly. Desire has everything a phone should have...but can't figure out the email function. I am with ATT (USA) and have the data plan on unlocked device. I set up yahoo email using network and had the wi-fi turned off : IMAP.mail.yahoo.com port 143 no security and SMTP.mobile.mail.yahoo.com port 25 and can't see sent mails that have been sent from the yahoo account. If they are sent from the device, they are shown. Does anyone have this issue? Your insight will be greatly appreciated!
Nonga, 12 Aug 2010Hey ppl i need help im stuck between the iphone 4 when ot realeses or the desire or th samsung... morePersonally i would go for the HTC Desire....
for Browser speed
Full flash support
HTC Sense UI (personal preference.. i didnt like the Samsung UI)
Wifi Mobile hot spot functionality (it's awesome)
720p Recording - mpeg 4 only (after update)
App to SD card (not all, but it's better than nothing)
(all of the above were tested after 2.2 froyo update)
Lots of quality apps including free 1's
Most useful apps - RockPlayer for divx, mkv playback
and AndroZip for BT Data Transfer (any files) :D
No secondary camera, but you can hold it how ever you like ;)
The phone is amazing but the only problem I have faced is that all the messages from the inbox gets deleted sometimes.

Nonga, 12 Aug 2010Hey ppl i need help im stuck between the iphone 4 when ot realeses or the desire or th samsung... moreIts a dilemma, all have there + & -,
Iphone apps store is the biggest But Android is half the size but growing fast. The Samsung has the best screen & camera but NO led flash so no taking photos or video at night & no led notification which the desire has.
Its a nightmare it took me 3 months to finally get the HTC desire it is a compromise for me until there is a 3.7/4" touchscreen running Android with Decent camera & at lease dual flash (but prefer xenon, xt720 is rubbish)
Good luck fella.

Ziltoid, 12 Aug 2010Many thanks for all the valid comments about my concerns or doubts about the HTC Desire vs iPh... moreYou have already told yourself which phone not to buy, you said you want flash support, then that roles out the iphone straight away. Android is a fantastic operating system & with another update coming out at the end of the year the Desire may or maynot get it, but this is a very good phone with some slight problems, HD video ok?? but mic terrible on video & I just with it would have a proper camera button, you can use the hardware joystick button but it does not focus provably sometimes.
Many thanks for all the valid comments about my concerns or doubts about the HTC Desire vs iPhone 4. Ok, my primary needs (when acquiring or buying) a multitouch smartphone would be: connectivity(good web browser with flash support, good synchronize in multimedia & email accounts: including services like facebook, twitter, live messenger, YouTube and Skype service) - good market for free applications - Good calls in reception (mic & speakerphone) - Good audio quality & video media player - Easy to configure settings and of course: easy way to customize & update the OS??... So in terms of bringing together all these features(mentioned above), please I need a valid and accurate respectful opinion: which of the two models(between HTC Desire & iPhone 4), is the best that certainly deserves to be bought-purchased? (I know the HTC Desire use microSD cards up to 32GB - iPhone 4 comes with 32GB internal storage) (I use Itunes 'cause I have iPod Touch 2G) - The HTC Desire can synchronize with iTunes collection? (I know there are many questions in my post, but I want to be sure which of the two models buy. Many Thanks
Weslee, 19 Jul 2010The first 2 months I was very happy with it. Until I updated from firmware 1.15 to 1.21. The p... moreI agree with you totally. I have the same problem with my phone. It has been restored to standard settings from the startup and the problem still persists. It does however seem to be related to a faulty batch of phones as I have two mates at the office that liked my phone and went for the same phone and are not having any problems.
The question is where to from here.
I was initially attracted to the HTC desire as it had great specifications and I am a technologist. This phone has however disappointed me severely as it restarts randomly, even when idle. I have also found myself arriving at clients, taking out my phone to get to the calendar to get the meeting details and the phone just freezes and gets itself into a reboot cycle that takes about 30-40 minutes to complete, each time annoying me with the startup tune. I have then gone online onto various forums and it seems that this is a manufacturers fault but has not been publically acknowledged and a recall being performed. You can google 'HTC desire random restart' and you will see the results. The area around the battery gets really hot and makes me wonder if the phone has a overheating problem.
I have taken my phone in to the service provider and have been informed after two weeks that they will need another 6 weeks.
All I can say is before you are attacted to the great reviews here and the specs, go to google and search for problems on the phone. You will be surprised.
Craig, 12 Aug 2010Hi there, to answer your question, you need to consider what your own needs are. I own a desir... morethe HD video recording on the desire is just as good as the Iphone, Are u joking, the iphone hd recording is far superior, i have the desire with 720p & the iphone is much better & the desires mic is useless it sounds like it was manufactured 5 years ago
Luv my HTC desire but they do use very very cheap components.
1.The FM Radio indoors by the windows crackels loads, mu Samsung Omnia 1 & 2 & nokia N82 have no problem betting a perfect signal but the Desires is not that good.
2.HD video mic is useless it sounds like mic's did 5 years ago.
3. Camera could be improved the Nokia C6 seems to take better photos than the Desire (Nokia are the best camera on a phone u can buy, followed by sony ericsson!!)
Please fix the Radio & mic components for future phones
Ziltoid, 11 Aug 2010I'm undecided between the HTC Desire or iPhone 4. Which one is better in connectivity(web brow... moreHi there, to answer your question, you need to consider what your own needs are. I own a desire, and I would never look back, however it might not be the right phone for you.
In terms of custimisation, you will always find the open source nature of Android to be far superior. The app store has more apps than Android's market, but there are a massive amount of free apps on Android compared to that of Apple's app store.
Multimedia wise, the HD video recording on the desire is just as good as the Iphone, and if you do not use Itunes, I would say there is no reason to get the Iphone4.
The desire is cheaper (especially on contract) and is avaliable with much cheaper and better tariffs.
If you are looking at these sim free you would also save money on the desire over the IP4, for a product that performs very similarly.
The Android app store is the fastest growing applications market in history, and I feel this will outstrip apple's market in a few years, as it has so many more developers pouring money into it.
However, my bias is heavyly weighted towards the desire.
Im hoping this has helped a little, if you have any more questions, feel free to reply.
Ziltoid, 11 Aug 2010And what about the quality in calls? wich one have better quality (including speakerphone) HTC... moreThe Desire wins. Just go look at the signal problem the IPhone4 has ( http://gizmodo.com/5580587/app...enna-problem ). Try to imagine speaking on the phone and just dropping the phone call just because you didn't "hold it right" =)
