I agree 100% with you, I have the very same fault an driving me mad. Other party hear me perfect and I also hear them perfect but the constant hissing sound is annoying. I tried plugging in headphones and you still slight hear it so now I cant figure out if its the earpiece speaker that is faulty or just the way this phone is.
apart from the above its the best phone I have ever owned and that coming from a Nokia N900 and Nexus one
is the phone good loads of people have recommended it to me???
Anonymous, 08 May 2010What is 'LIVE WALLPAPER'? Is there anyone who can explain it? Basically, it is like an animated image but here it is also interactive, mean it reacts your finger touchs.
Watch this video to see exactly what "live wallpapers" are;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-qYMfMt07s
As far as know only HTC Desire and Nexus One (also Incredible) have live wallpapers support i.e. the newest Android handsets. HTC Legend lacks live wallpapers, but unlike Desire and N1 you can set a different still image on lock-screen with Legend whereas this not possible in desire and Nexus-One natively. As to WM devices, today i played(!) with an HTC HD-Mini; it offers animated wallpapers (obs! not live wallpapers), animated backgroung images are used on some other devices/platforms too.
how to make video calls when there is no secondary camera?

I just got the desire and notice some sort of static and hissing sound when on a call. The other caller can hear me just fine but I am getting this static hissing sound. Is anyone having the same problem? I have read on some other blogs about people having the same issue. I love the phone but that part is driving me nuts.
Extension of battery life as fare as I have found out can be done like this.
1. close the applications you do not use running in background
2. choose a black background to save battery usage
3. minimize the screenlight when needed via power control
4. turn of the mobil network when you do not use internet. Turn it on again when u need it. You can create the widget on the main screen to control your mobil network connection.
I hope taht will help alot.

I have been using Desire for three weeks, what I can say to those of you who are about to buy Desire is simply you will not regret.
Just waiting for HTC to release new firmware upgrade to Desire, which will bring Desire divX support, 720p hd video recording functions and dlna (acc to rumours).
Liquid, 07 May 2010I want too buy this one but the comments about the battery arent soo good.Who owned a desire P... moreI am using my Desire for three weeks; in the first couple of days battery life seemed to me a big matter as it had not used to last a full day, but it was simply because -like everyone do- i "played" with it too much, for ex. looking in every single menu options, settings, widgets, also installing and managing contacts, mail accounts etc. etc. btw, installed more than 50 apps from the market (some of them uninstalled later) example? compass, google sky map, bubble level, barcode reader, dice, currency and unit converter, metal detector, a couple of games etc. etc. So it was totally normal that it could not last a day. Meanwhile, i read some opinions about so called "task killer" and tried 3 different tas killer (not same time) for 2-3 days without seeing no change. Then, upon reading more serious and comprehensive article about Android OS, have figured out that using task killers is not necessary, besides leading more battery drain in return. So, not using task killer anymore. what you need to do is just keeping wi-fi, gps and bluetooth connections off when not in use, disabling unnecesary update services (weather, stocks, email etc.) you can still update them manually whenever you want. There is a widget available natively in Desire, named "power control" to on-off those functions with a single tap on it.
Finally, in spite of my 3G/HSDPA data connection is open 24hrs and using live wallpaper as background battery life is appr 48 hrs now.
A recommendation; let the battery go empty fully then charge it fully by keeping plugged in at least 7-8 hrs at the first time. In later usage, do not recharge unless remaining battery level lowers than 15% (preferably wait until it closes itself) then do not unplug before it fully charged.
Note: Also I am using a third party battery level app to see exact level in % which is active all the time (so drains battery as well), and another app saying who is calling (a text-to-speak app) which is also active and drains battery constantly.
