> In reply to Keesje @ 2010-03-16 10:54 from mmsc - click to readSince Desire has 1 GHz CPU and 800x480 pixels (Legend has 600 MHz and 320x480 pixels), the obvious choice would be Desire. Both of them are in same price range.

Hi,
I have just ordered the Desire based on the specs, but after searching some android forums (I always had WinMo before) I think there is a major problem for me: no playback of XVid/DivX/Mkv; it seems these files have to be converted to be played on an Android headset.
Can anybody confirm that?
My 2 years old Omnia plays them back without any problems with core player...

I am in doubt whether to buy the Legend or the Desire. They have much the same specs apart from processor and screen. Can anyone advise me on this, please? It is a difficult choice to make.

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-03-15 17:28 from BwVZ - click to readfor hd2 vs desire, i wud go with desire bcos of a few reasons.
- display:
the display of the desire is better than the display of hd2. its got more color, uses amoled, and its got more dpi or ppi resulting in gr8r pic clarity or less pixelated images
- camera:
they both hv the same cam, but the desire has more features for it such as video recording at a greater resolution and smile detection. also viewing them on the better display is an advantage.
- os:
i hv used a winmo i dont like it. compared to the other oses available it seems old. htc hd2 runs 6.5 and wont get the winmo 7 update so ur stuck with an outdated os. android keeps updating itself freely. not to mention android has a better app market place with not only more apps in total but also much more free apps. (i think its got more free apps as a %age than the apple app store)
- other specs:
battery life shud be similar for both. hd2 has a longer standby but shorter talk time.
the desire has more ram which is always a good thing
desire has dolby sound enhancements but hd2 doesnt

my pick: htc desire

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2010-03-15 17:28 from BwVZ - click to readandroid phones can open and edit documents. there r apps such as documents to go. the free version lets u view, the paid version lets u view and edit (as far as i am aware of). also i think u cud use google documents. or an app called gdocs.

> In reply to Anonymous @ from HHHH - click to readi wud advise u to not get the hero. the htc legend shud be coming out sometime next month and its better than the hero. i also think it looks better but thats a personal thing. it will be cheaper than the desire also and its basically gna replace the hero. if u hv enuf money, get the desire since in terms of features/specs, it is better.

in terms of hd2 vs desire, i wud go with desire bcos of a few reasons. compare the specs: http://www.gsmarena.com/compar...dPhone2=2957

- display:
u shud notice the display of the desire is better than the display of hd2. its got more color(16mil compared to 65k), uses amoled and its got more dpi or ppi resulting in greater picture clarity.
- camera:
while they both hv the same cam, the desire has more features for it such as video recording at a greater resolution and smile detection. also viewing them on 16mil with a better display is an advantage

i hv used winmo 6.0, 6.1, and 6.5. i dont like the os. compared to the other oses available it seems outdated. htc hd2 runs 6.5 and wont get the winmo 7 update sour stuck with an outdated os. android on the other keeps updating itself free. not to mention android has a far better app market place with not only more apps in total but also around 70% free. winmo has mostly paid apps and limited number.
- other specs:
battery life shud be similar for both. hd2 has a longer standby but shorter talk time.
the desire has more ram which is always a goo thing (but hd2 has lots of ram. its almost double the average amount of ram on most phones)
desire has dobly sound enhancer but hd2 doesnt
