For those who are planning to update to e official GB rom i suggest u dun. My phone occasionally can't even shut down n instead rebooted itself n there are still some animation glitches here n there ever since i updated to GB. Internal memory has also been shrinking non-stop, unlike Froyo 2.2 where it would oni shrink by abt 2-3Mb in a wk n it would stop on its own.
I suggest that those who really wanted GB badly to just root n try out those sense roms from xda developers. In addition, for those who have alrdy updated to e official GB rom, u will be unable to root the phone as of 1st august 2011.
Still skeptical about updating my Desire to GB. Looks like there are different results for everyone after updating: some say the battery life increased, and for some it decreased; some say internal storage increased, but for others it didn't; some had better smoothness and response in the touchscreen, others started to lag.. Hmm..

I am plannig to buy this phone but skeptical about its low internal memory..Does it realy affect the performance? How is the internet browsing and ebook reading experience on this phone? also is it better to go for Motorola defy or HTC Desire?
The recent GB update makes the phone run faster. It adds the sleep mode so the phone now opens at 5 secs. Battery life extended and performance upgraded. Not any serious issue faced so far. But the phone operated flawlessly with the froyo anyway. The only known issue is the lack of memory, just 110 MB of ROM after the upgrade.
I'm able to read EPUB files again, just downloaded it from pc to sd card(digital editions folder), then read thru Cool reader app.. well i guess GB update is worth it, no lags/freezes(same as froyo), better phone memory space, snappier response(a little bit).. and your phone feels "new" again hehe

Please, one question
This phone can ready .doc or .ppt?? This have windows mobile?
Upgraded to GB. Fantastic upgrade. Phone just works fine, absolutely no problem with SMS, MMS, Battery life is superb. just turn off background data and voyla.... :) super-fast,touchscreen improved etc. one word- great job HTC!!! (sorry, two words:D)
I think im going to love this phone. Got 1 today. its not heavy its nice and small. Just loving it
Don't upgrade to GB, it doesn't wroth really. It's right that you will have a slightly faster performance but on the other hand you will face many hangs with your touch screen which cannot be solved unless you remove the battery... I really regret it that I lost my old beast desire 4 months without any single problem. Does Any body know where from can I download an original froyo back... Please help guys.
HTC made a great phone, the HTC Desire.
Looks awsome, great hardware, BUT...
This phone has reached end of life only after 12 months as HTC no longer support upgrades for it.
So all the little bugs and issues I was wating to see imporved will never get fixed.
Waste of my good money.
HTC can build a phone but their software and support for it is a joke.
I will never buy a HTC brand phone again.
i have updated my phone with GB.. it was working well until a few after,, it started lagging a lot.. esp with the games.. helpp.. =((((((((((
FACING A STARNGE PROB WITH MY DESIRE...with my txt messages time...the messages which i send are with normal cell phone time but the text which i recive have different time like they are hour before the aktual time what shud i dooo??any one can help plzzzzzzzzzzzz
GB update: my normal battery life is back, not much of a difference from froyo, i wana say theres a slight improvement on everything but its hardly noticable.. more of a psycholigical effect knowing you have a "new" system.. again, phone memory space has improved considering i've reinstalled my old apps and added more, still w/ more space left.. i havent sorted out how to play EPUB files, i'm still working on it, thats the only feature i miss from froyo, you could download it directly to the sd card and read through Cool Reader or Aldiko app.. my htc desire will be 6months this august21 so fas i'm very very happy with it, gingerbread update was a good move by htc
