As promised some days ago, the Lollipop upgrade has made a solid good phone even better. There has been absolutely no snags, just plain smooth sailing. The cameras, once I held over some reservations, today are certainly a lot better. Furthermore the battery has gained a new lease of life, now serving longer. Obviously Lollipop has brought about that much awaited 64 bits architecture for the Desire 820 giving justice to a great hardware system. The Desire 820 is proving again to be excellent value for money.
Today I found a really useful and interesting feature by accident. If you press and hold the power button and then instantly press the home button it takes a screenshot! It is way easier than the power button+volume down.

Come on Htc..the lolipop on 820 is rubish..leg and batery problems...
A few days ago I upgraded to Lollipop. For a few hours the phone is busy updating the OS and apps and becomes hot on the backside. Just leave it alone for during that period. But after that and a full reset everything works perfect.
Maybe it's strange but I have the feeling that battery life is longer, not shorter as other users mention.
Today I upgraded its HTC on lollipop. Everything is OK. There is no problem or lags. Thank you for your answers and suggestions. I am very satisfied and happy. The phone works very smoothly and quickly.

moan, 20 Oct 2015when will htc 820 get marshmallow virsion? In quarter 1st of 2016. That means January to April.
htc_user_zx, 19 Oct 2015Now the question is, whether to make the upgrade to the lollipop or not. I'm a little confused... moreYou should definitely upgrade. Yes the first time you boot it after the update it is sluggish but once you work a little with it and reboot it it is perfect. Absolutely no lags or anything. Only the battery is going down a little faster but it's unnoticeable. I say go for it.
i upgraded to lolipop on it.but it gets hot and its consumed battery....

Once you upgrade, your phone is going to optimize all the apps to use ART (Android Run Time) instead of Delvik, that was used by KitKat.
What that basically means that your apps will be loaded on the RAM and hence, switching between/opening new apps will be quicker. CON: More RAM will be consumed than before.
Due to this, the phone might feel a bit sluggish at first.
Once you restart the phone, the phone becomes instantly more responsive than the KitKat version, only because now the full x64 bit architecture will be used.
What that means is that 64 bits will be used to make calls to the memory rather than 32 bits, hence more information can be called quicker, in terms of the OS.
The new UI is also very simplistic, and kinda cool.
I say you go for it.
Now the question is, whether to make the upgrade to the lollipop or not. I'm a little confused. Someone says that there are no problems and that everything is working properly on the lollipop, while others say that there are various problems after the upgrade. Now what to do, upgrade the lollipop or stay on KitKat.I'd love to do an upgrade, but if it would be bad, then I'd rather not. Please advice.

I got offered to update to lollipop but I won't do that because I see plenty of people have problems with the update. 10/9.
