Marwa, 17 Nov 20101-may i be a little curious & ask what a ROM truly is ???
, cause up till now all my per... moreI can’t go into the details about what a ROM is now. But I will later tonight if you still want me to.
The word “ROM” is used very loosely in here. Some times it is referring to type of memory chip call a ROM. other times we are referring to the built-in programming image software called a “ROMs”. Originally a ROM = Read Only Memory, like a old Nintendo game cartage but the new ones that are used in phones are not 100% read only.
If you want to know more let me know.
Why I think the Desire HD is a better multimedia phone than the HD2 is for 4 reasons.
1. The parts of it that are not the sense UI looks better/polished in comparison to the parts of win mo that are not the Sense UI.
2. For media formats and software that play them, the HD2 and Desire HD were neck and neck but the Desire HD went over the top by having full flash 10. 1 support in the web browser. No crappy app or mediaplayer add-on needed.
3. better video camera
4. It handles media attached to email more in keeping to how it would look on a PC.
So if you are in the market to buy a phone and you just wanted ONE OS and you are more a multimedia Person don’t you think that would be the way to go?
(if you like need microsoft outlook, word, excel then you need the HD2 no questions asked.)

But he is a real media junky, this is a guy that install a PC into his car (gutted the glove box, installed touch screen display in the dashboard). Because a DVD head unit like the rest of us, simple surveillance, just was not enough for him. He luvs how the iPhone worked just don’t like some of the limitations. That is the only reason he gave it up for the HD2. But now he wants to move again, because after trying froyo on the HD2, he thinks the Desire HD would be like a super iPhone. He dose not use word, excel or outlook so I can see why he would like the Desire HD more.

My paypal payment( my billing add is US and shipping add is china) did not get through and I called them up to sort out payment issue. They advised me to bank transfer which sounds weird and I never did this before. But I can trust clove in this matter.
One for thing, You win mob guys seem to have some kind of old personal vendetta with iphone lol. I'm not into fan boy things……but your naïve fren's comment (android is iphone on steriod) is really funny. May be he's not aware of jailbreak & 200K apps in itunes.
PS: I've used iphone extensively eventhough I do not own one.
High Tech, 17 Nov 2010Yes the FroYo HD build is nice... I cannot use it as my main OS... It doesn't have the Office ... moreI have a friend that I converted from an “Iphone fan boy” when he saw how much I could do on my HD2 and he went out and got one. When I told him I had installed Android he went and did the same. He dose not use his phone for anything work related, he is more into media and stuff like that, only got the HD2 because the iphone was limited in customizations and capability. Now that he is using Android on his HD2, he said it feels like an “iPhone on steroids”. Now he wants to sell his HD2 to get a Desire HD. LOL
I use this phone already 1 yrs. I wish to sell o throw the phone to dustbin! it always jam & lap when I suffer internet .. how come like tis?
Anthony, 17 Nov 2010I have no complaints in how (Mdeejay FroYo HD v.3.7) is running. But there are things i don’t... moreYes the FroYo HD build is nice... I cannot use it as my main OS... It doesn't have the Office apps I need... As for navigation I use Navigon... Navigon is a very nice navigation app... I use to have it for WM, but will buy again when it goes 50% off... The one thing a really like about Android is the low cost apps for it... WM apps are really getting to costly (up to $89+ for some apps. If you bought the same apps on another OS it would cost way less)... I view Android on my HD2 as another OS I can use on a daily basis...
simo, 17 Nov 2010how can i make vedio call in htc hd2 sorry i am new useryou can't. didn't you read the spec before you buy?
High Tech, 16 Nov 2010Anthony how is FroYo HD v3.7 running??? Is the eReader app removed and the camera app??? I loo... moreI have no complaints in how (Mdeejay FroYo HD v.3.7) is running.
But there are things i don’t like.
I see no eReader app in it. the camera is still there but it is not working (it just starts and shots back off.)
I can’t believe I’m going to say this but the look of this ROM is better than my Stock WM 3.14 ROM the QWERTY is done better as well and I’m in luv with the browser(i turned off mobile mode and filters.) Opera in winmo wants nothing with this. Also like the universal inbox for all my email accounts
Now for what i don’t like ....
Let me start by saying this is my first time actually using Android myself and not just looking at a phone that has it. so there is alot a may not know about it. So feel free to correct me on anything if I’m wrong.
Can’t setup my custom inbox folders that are in my accounts like a can in WM.
There is no software interface for my dual sim card holder, so I can’t switch sim on the fly like in WM.
There is no way to edit .docx files.
It does not answer calls in speaker mode when I have it in the car dock like WM.
There is no garmin.
Because of this i could never fully switch over to android. Will just have to switch between the two to use the things i want that WM don’t have.
I lost my HTC volume boxes (system and handset boxes)... I removed an app from my phone and know I have the ugly windows volume controls..... Can someone tell me where I can find a cab to get the HTC sound system back????
Anthony how is FroYo HD v3.7 running??? Is the eReader app removed and the camera app??? I looked at mines and I'm still running v3.4.1.... I haven't updated because I thought an update to v4.0 was coming... Looks like that want happen til the camera issue is fixed or they're waiting for Android v2.3 to be released???? Need to know how you like it before I update????? Will check back later for your response..
Syrus, 16 Nov 2010Hey Anthony….speaking of Clove UK, I'm thinking of placing order for my blackberry 9780 which ... more1. Shipping options and cost are done in check out. So go see what your options are. (No need to sign up or complete the order) just put the phone in the cart, pick check out, then pick your country from the drop down. Then you will see what the shipping options and cost are in the next dropdown.
For my country it had DHL & International signed mail. I don’t trust my local postal service so you know what I went with.
2. All transactions are done in £.
Your credit card bank/company will do the conversion on the day that clove takes out the money (not clove). And clove only take there money when you sign for receiving the phone. So from the time you buy to the time they take the money it just stays pending. So the conversion you are talking about is not done on the day you buy, but on the day clove takes there money.
2.1. The conversion on the site is just a guide to give you a ball park idea of the cost.
Anthony, 16 Nov 2010LOL this is not and iphone, all models are very easy to hack by your self for free.

1)What kind of courier company(For regular shipment) Clove uses to send your stuffs?? The reason I asked this is ….if they send by Fedex or UPS….damn I gotta pay custom duty here. If they send by regular uk postal service or EMS…I can evade this custom. Do you remember when you got your hd2?
2)Another thing is all prices are quoted in GB Pounds. BB is quoted 335 pounds in their site and they have 2 small icons to change pounds into euro & dollar. When I press dollar sign…it comes up $628.23 which is not true. As of today's exchange rate it should be $532.94. Its little confusing. I'm just worried if they charge me 628dl instead of 532dl.

The reason I told you don’t buy it provider branded is because….
1. Unlike the iphone, different HD2’s come with different ROMs.
2. A HTC factory ROM is better than a Provider branded ROM any day of the week.
3. Phones with HTC roms get the most software support from HTC unlike the phones with provider ROMs.
4. Phones with HTC ROMs has the lest amount of limitations.
5. Phones with HTC ROMs are the EASIST to get modifications for.
6. Phones with HTC ROMs are not locked to a provider.
7. And now that I know you are not buying from your home country, a new phone with a HTC ROM will entitle you to a world wide warranty. (not so with the provider phones)
8. If you want a HD2 with an English language OS, I recommend the UK factory unlocked version. It has the latest ROM update on the HTC site (version 3.14)
9. The version of the phone you get is important because all versions of the HD2 are not entitled to the same “official” updates.
I recommend www.clove.co.uk to buy it from if you want the UK factory unlocked version. They dial with international customers and are official HTC recognized retailers. I have gotten 4 HD2’s and 2 HD’s from there with no problems.
Don’t let the #’s worry you. Was buying on behalf of my wife and friends. Only 1 HD and HD2 were for my use.
And I did mash one of the HD2’s and craked the TFT display (not the glass) but I got that display replace for free under the international warranty. (But I sold that one because I had already ordered a new one, before I called to find out about the warranty). Just like you, I don’t live in the UK, so I did not have to pay the vat price on the site. I paid the none vat price.
Let the FUN begin....... Looks like nVidia Tegra 2 dual core phones will be out in early 2011 (just a few short months).... One phone coming is the LG Star w/nVidia Tegra 2 chip.... It's said the phone will be an Android version with full 1080p decoding and filming... Also phone is said to have front video camera, and SD Card slot (hopefully the new SD Cards with more storage capcity).... These specs looks good.................. Now I can put my Blu-ray laptop to work on recording 1080p movies for my phone????????????
Anthony, 16 Nov 2010if you are going to buy this phone, try not to buy it provider branded. alot less stress that way.yes i know , specially that i'm gettin it from another country , i'll make sure it's unlocked or jailbroke or something like that =D
