Anonymous, 25 May 2010I just want a more stable phone. Don't matter if its vodafone or not. From were can I get th... moreYou said your phone has a Vodafone ROM.
I can help you hack the SPL on the phone and even give you an S/N to download 1.66 generic English ROM from the HTC UK site.
But if you don’t tell me the full number of the ROM you have on now I will not be able to post a link for you to download a backup copy of it (just encase you want to go back to your original ROM for warranty reasons) or look and see what country HTC site you have to go to, that may have the update for your Vodafone ROM. That update will install without hacking the SPL.
1.66 is the rom version
405 is the type/region/language/provider (405 is the universal English, no provider, HTC generic ROM)
So if you are upgrading the version but staying in the same 405 you don’t need to hack.
e.g. 1.43.405.1 to 1.48.405.2 or 1.66.405.2
But if you want to upgrade and change your type/region/language/provider you will have to do a hack and get an S/N if you want the ROM from HTC. (There are other places you can get ROMs but you will still have to hack the SPL to get it on).
e.g. 1.43.407.1 to 1.48.405.2 or 1.66.405.2 (407 is a Germany, no provider, HTC generic ROM)
If you don’t ever plan on putting back a ROM intended for your SPL I don’t need to know your full ROM #just tell me what type/region/provider or none provider rom you want to hack your SPL to put on.

Go buy something else, and stop wasting your time and our time about it.

ertug, 25 May 2010Have been using for almost two months now... I strongly and strongly NOT recommend the HD2. Wi... more1. What Rom version are you using? Anything under 1.66 should be updated.
2. Did you install “.net cf 3.5 redistributed” which is needed for most 3rd party programs to work?
3. Did you ever do a factory reset/hard reset (the kind you do with the volume & power keys.) In order to replace drivers that may have gotten corrupted?
Have been using for almost two months now... I strongly and strongly NOT recommend the HD2. Without any reason the phone freezes (dont remember how many times I had to take the battery out or reset), cannot install any apps since most of it does not work properly ex: foursquare (there are not many available in windows marketplace anyway), had problems with camera (sometimes it does not work- dont know why?) and HTC support really bad, only advice they provide is to install "new ROM" (without asking If you have it installed already - so check your version before installing new ROM)...Verdict: waste of money! lots of frustration!
jack, 25 May 2010I think 1.4 somethink. I bought it from vodafone malta and I just want the latest update
Ok you have a vodafone ROM on the phone (and a very old one too).
Are you looking for an upgrade to that same vodafone ROM or will any generic HTC ROM upgrade do?
And you need to know your full ROM number 1.4 something is not enough you tell you what to do.
tman, 25 May 2010thanks anthony...even if i am not sketching but just writing single alphabets its really diffi... moreWhen I’m creating a new file in “Notes” I go into the menu of the new file and uncheck Draw and check “View Recording toolbar” and I tap the keyboard icon.
So I use the keyboard to type text, and I make some audio recording if I have to describe something that is going to take to long to describe by typing. I gave up on trying to make any proper diagrams on this screen with my finger. I think you will have to buy the stylus for that. Only rough sketches can be done easily with my finder, no works of art. :-

Can someone tell me how to update the HD2 Rom . When i go to try to install it from the htc website its says that the update is not suiutable for me . Any suggestions ? Thanks
I am reading articles about running the blackberry suite on a windows mobile phone.
And I am wounding if any of you have been successful in doing it on the HD2?
For the people that are still having problems with there data connection not disconnecting when it is idle…..
In the pass I have had a SIM just for data and a next for voice calls and used a program called “Data Controller” to stop the voice sim from being able to access a sim data connection. This was good enough for me and most people but some of you out there still wanted auto connect to use data on the sim but have it cut off when you turn on Wi-Fi or when it was setting idle and “Data Controller” could not do that.
Well for the past few weeks I have gotten one sim for both voice and data use, which put me in the group of people that also needed something a little more than “Data Controller.”
I have been using a program called “WMLongLife” for just over 2 weeks now and I can safely say, after putting the setting to how I want it.
1. My sim data connection is disconnected 15 seconds after it is no longer needed.
2. Is does not cut my bluetooth connections at the same time.
3. Wi-fi connection takes priority over sim data
4. sim data auto connects if there is no wifi and data is needed. And disconnects 15 seconds after it is no longer needed.
Note: you can’t have your mail set to “get it as soon as it arrives or you will never disconnect. So check for mail every how ever min or hours has to be used.
Hope this information comes in handy to other users of the HD2
zil, 25 May 2010...purchased my phone 2 months ago and it keeps switching off after downloading some applicati... morethat sounds like a hardware problem. you may need to send the phone back.
but if you want you can try a hard reset to put the phone back to factory settings.
a soft reset will not help you with that problem.
...purchased my phone 2 months ago and it keeps switching off after downloading some applications like games, quotes, horoscope etc.. i was advised that my prone may not like these applications so i stop and removed almost all. until now, it keeps switching off for some reason like in the middle of a call about 5 minutes it switched off, and making a call while moving, walking it's turning off. I wonder whats the reason. I also notice that its too sensitive in a sudden change of weather from being inside the cold office to coming out in a sunny weather. can anyone please advise if its ok to make a soft reset? do you think it can help a bit? Thanks in advance
