HD2_User, 25 Apr 2010Anthony, ive been posting a lot of question in this forum about switching my old 1.43 ROM to a... moreHTC is a Taiwan company, so technically all HTC phones are made in Taiwan.
What makes each batch different is the ROM version.
You say your ROM is 1.43 and you want 1.66. That is the right way to go, but what you did not say is what market/region your phone came from.
e.g. the ROM my phone came with was 1.43.405.1
1.43 is the ROM version .405 tells you it from a English Europe HTC factory unlocked batch. (Not sure what the last digit is for)
Anyway, what that means is any ROM that ends with .405. I can upgrade (not downgrade) to without hacking my phone. I can still use ROMs that have other numbers in that location. But those are the ones I would have to do the hack to put on.
So that 1.66 ROM you got, how did you get it?
Did you use your S/N on HTC site to get it (making it a match upgrade)?
Did you get it from a 3rd party site but it has the same “market/region” code as the ROM already on your phone making it a match upgrade?
Or is it different altogether, but you still want to use it, and need the know how to hack it

I can’t say which is better between 1.66.xxx.x & 1.72.xxx.x because I have never tried a 1.72.xxx.x ROM before.
But if you do you can tell us the results.
By the way, the S/N I gave is for and original ROM, not a cooked one and it’s not my phone S/N. It was given by a next user of the forum to be used by any one that needed it.
I tell people about it because I have tested it and can confirm it is not a fake.

It sucks but that’s the way it is.
In the file explorer, you can drag your finger on the folders to select multiple items (this is when there are few items in the window.). but if there are many item in the window, dragging may scroll the window and not select items.
How to select items there?

gsmarena says the HD2 has only 1230 mAh battery and 65k colors. But on HTC's Facebook page, one of the pictures states it's got 1,800 mAh battery and 16 million colors. Who between the two got it wrong anyway?

Anonymous, 26 Apr 2010Hmmm.. is it possible to load Android OS on the HD2? I googled, asked around but nothing solid... moreHi, its unlikely as there would be as there would be complex ROM issues. The best option is to go for the HTC Desire which is identical to the Google Nexus One in all but name, its rated as THE iPhone killer too, but personally I'd stick to the BlackBerry O/S as its the most secure and trusted by far in the business community

Also, Skype runs on the iPhone. I'm not sure if there is a third party app that runs similarly to Skype on the HTC Leo (HD2), but it is a pretty smart phone.
what is the difference between ROM Version:1.72.831.1 ( Hongkong-This is where i got mine) and the ROM WWE:1.66.405.2 ( Europe- you provided your SN before to me) ? which is better do you think? I think it is time for me to go back to use the original ROM now. I have enough Cooked ROM at this moment.
