My upgrade is currently due and I would like to get the HTC Hero, I've heard that the battery life is very poor, 1 day. Also, that the touchscreen can make SMS'ing a huge problem. I would like to heard the opinion of actual users. Waiting......

1. Motorola Droid
Bottom Line: The first Android 2.0 phone impresses with a strong suite of Web features and a stunning 3.7-inch display, but some users might have trouble with the shallow keyboard.
2. Apple iPhone 3GS
Bottom Line: Performance enhancements distinguish the otherwise evolutionary step-up iPhone 3GS from its previous iterations.
3. Motorola Cliq
Bottom Line: The beautifully designed Motorola Cliq is a social butterfly’s dream phone, but others may find the MotoBlur user interface overwhelming.
4. Research in Motion BlackBerry Bold 9700
Bottom Line: The best BlackBerry available, the Bold 9700 packs a multitude of features into a sophisticated, slimmed-down design.
5. T-Mobile myTouch 3G
Bottom Line: The T-Mobile myTouch 3G is a big improvement from its predecessor, but the physical keyboard is sorely missed.
6. Palm Pre
Form Factor: Candy bar
Bottom Line: The Pre's webOS software is touch-friendly and fun, but the cramped QWERTY keyboard detracts from the phone's usability.
7. Samsung Behold II
Bottom Line: With a gorgeous AMOLED display and an excellent camera, the pricey Samsung Behold II will appeal to multimedia junkies with deep pockets.
8. Research in Motion BlackBerry Tour 9630
Bottom Line: The BlackBerry Tour entices with an ergonomic keyboard and gorgeous display, but the omission of Wi-Fi disappoints.
9. HTC Droid Eris
Bottom Line: If you can live without a hardware keyboard, the HTC Droid Eris is an affordable and feature-packed alternative to the Motorola Droid.
10. HTC Hero
Bottom Line: The HTC Hero marks a giant step in innovation of the Android platform, but it isn't without flaws

Anonymous, 11 Dec 2009HTC announced Android 2.0 update. It will be released soon...thanx
Gutted dropped my hero yesterday..... anyway I've had this phone 4 months now and with all apps available to you on the market with the latest ROM update, this phone is simply the best out there! Of course some minor issues I think like no flash for camera but hey its not a camera. I was after with very intuitive interface with multiple widgets running simultaneously, also we also all expect more from version 2.0 update on the way! Just enjoy peeps... I'm just about to by a case ;-)
Great phone very smooth and thousands of free apps. What does v2.0 eclair improve?
Answer: yes you can update it to version 2. Official Rom update release is gonna be released 1st quarter 2010 at latest
i want to buy htc hero. i know its version is 1.5.i want to know that is it possible to update my phone to version 2.0 when it released??
and is it any problems?!!
Great Phone ! Great apps, smooth menu, impressive UI, waiting to upgrade to android 2.0
I have this phone for 4 days now and it's quite nice.
Except for Wi-Fi connection it has some very big issues around this. It simply won't connect other phones have no problem. And the one time it did connect I couldn't browse.
I think it's a known issue (can't belive there selling it like this)
If anyone had the same experience and fixed it please let me know. thanks
truly a great phone. But without Wifi n 3G (in countries like India) Its of no use..! Phone literally becomes a mere music phone. Sense UI n and other touch functionalities are just as good as HTC has promised. bit of Lagging still persists even after a ROM Update only if u have loaded the phone with lot of apps, music n photos. One thing I have noticed in this phone is that if you lot of text messages and u have kept messages widget in anyone of yo home screen then u will notice more lagging while sliding sideways. This also true for Albums. If u have too many photos it tends to lag more. Its been two weeks with this HTC Hero (unlocked version in India) i would rate it as 8 out of 10.
3's Seriously Social Party competition, as if it couldn't be any more epic, now offers you an HTC Hero handset! Check it out
