> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-14 10:37 from wrcH - click to readTa for the advice. I'm going to keep the N82 with a PAYG sim and get a Hero after all.
Now, all I need to decide is where and when to get one from? I'd prefer to pay no more than £30pm for x18 mths if pos with internet access incl for web browsing and occasional SavNav use. Which network should I go for, and should I wait till after Xmas for a better deal? Any suggestions from you Hero owners out there..?

hero is upgradeable to android v.2 which supports bluetooth usage and other major improvements.

at the end, it depends really on your expected budget.
personally i choose hero.

Hi people, i need your suggestion. Should i buy HTC Magic or HTC Hero, both have similar specs apart from camera resolution which i dont care. I heard Magic is also getting Sense UI. From my operator Magic cost S$198 and Hero is S$488.

Which is a better deal?
Thanks in advance.

> In reply to Mark @ 2009-11-14 08:11 from 3pcg - click to readit's true that HTC costumized the HD so good that it even have multitouch, capacitive and sense UI.
but it still winmo deep down, and no android market..
not to mention the practicalness of the device.

go for Hero and keep the N82 like me! :P

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-12 05:32 from sEEc - click to readHi all, thanks for the advice - I'm keeping my trusty old N82 but also getting a HTC phone now... the only problem is deciding between the Hero and the HD2!
According to GSM Arena the HD2 will be £35pm+ on Vodafone & O2. But, on balance, I think I still prefer the Hero as the HD2's WinMo o/s and lack of apps puts me off. What do you think? PS - What SatNav options are there for the Hero?

I won one of these phones in a contest. I currently have Verizon service. Can this phone be used on the Verizon network ? Or is it tied to the Sprint Network ?

Hi,
I just got my "Hero" yesterday...
been swept off my feet...ever since
I think it is by far the most tech advanced mobile I have bought.( after abt 14 years of mobile usage)
It is really cool... all that i could ask for in a mobile... trust me I had a lot of expectations from my upgrade to the ol war horse N958GB... (tried Iphone 3g,3gs and BB Bold too)
I am surprised to find a lot of them met in abt 10 hours of use.
gr8 camera - but needs ample lighting.
lovely texting/typing help... floored with this one.
I was apprehensive abt the qwerty as it was tough and needed precision...
but it is so advanced...
it predicts what u meant even if u type some irrelevant spelling... wonder how it happens...
mail and website browsing is super fast... (on Airtel)

personalized scenes very innovative and helpful..
overall happy with the phone...
need to fully understand the phone to appreciate it more...
will take another 6-7 days...

> In reply to Anonymous @ 2009-11-13 03:40 from ucwQ - click to readI know, i have the hero. and the about same. and N900 is kinda thick, and slightly better specs that is not to say the Hero is totally solid.

Hardware aside, because both stand solid, the real battle will be between the fast paced Android and its market app vs maemo and ovi + linux app
It should be very interesting, but for now, i set back, relax, and enjoy hero

considering the price tag, i will say hero.
it worths the money because htc provides a lot of supports, upgradeable to android v.2, etc.

> In reply to terry @ 2009-11-12 17:20 from ib6x - click to readhtc hd2 is currently the king of WinMo.
the only thing you need to consider is whether you will like the OS and the price tag.
check out WinMo OS, some ppl think that it's outdated, but it has a lot of applications

htc hero is currently the king in android market, well until motorola milestones available worldwide at least.
hero is a lot cheaper than HD2.

> In reply to Mark @ 2009-11-11 23:10 from 3pcg - click to readI have N82 alongside my newly purchased Hero, and despite this and that, I'm vry much satisfied with Hero.

It plays mp4 files smooth.. I don't know if Eclair could do divX or not but Hero is a class of it's own for touchscreen device.

I guess people should give it a try before they decided to buy iphone really..! (:

Does anyone know if the new Android 2.0 Eclair update will enable DivX playback and address the poor MP4 & FLV playback described in the GSM Arena's review of 06/08/09? Or is there an app which now enables DivX playback on the Hero?
I was holding out for the N900 but, despite it's dodgy camera and lack of Xenon or even LED flash, I was still quite impressed with the HTC Hero. If it supports decent video playback I might finally be persuaded to part with my much-loved N82...!
