When u would to use kitkat, u have to root the phone. Then in recovery menu u should flash the cyanogenmod 11. U could do that if do u have a HTC One S (S4). Its a bit complicated for HTC one S (S3), while it's hard to find a good ROM... but its a very good phone. Its 2 year old my htc one s, there weren't any problem with the phone:-)

Its a great phone and lots of ROMs are available I am using kitkat and believe me its performance has increased exponentially
It's a great phone, I'll be honest. However, if you're planning to root it and flash any ROMS onto it, there's a limited number for it and not much interest towards it.
its an amazing device especially after the upgrade to 4.1.1 jelly bean. thank you htc for the amazing devices you are producing out there to the market.
very smart and interesting but the only dissapointement is the battery life.
I've been using HTC One S for 5 months and I'm highly satisfied with the performance and look of my mobile. Just the operating system update issue from HTC is disappointing. Looks like HTC does not have a specified road and future strategies to reach the true success.
