Great! This phone/laptop is a major step towards portable computing and communications.
Next step: Reduce its weight and width. it should weigh less than a pound (450 grams).

WOW, its the 1st UMPC technically speaking, but it would have left competition behind had it also in built GPS, so that final consumers would have gone straight for it.
The weight would determine the sales of this unit coz if its heavier to carry people wudnt like to carry it. I wonder if the come up with a small strapable ( wrist) gadget with small lCD scree to show and type in phone no. which cud be attached with the bluetooth so it would have been unbeatable.

if you are buying it as a laptob then fine, but if you are buying it as a phone then not fine :)
I'm tired of holding my bulky PDA2k and I would like to have smaller phone no a bigger one.
if you already carry your laptob with you everywhere then you will be able to carry this one with you too.

Although this Phone is amazing but because of limited details one could not replace it with Laptop, atleast for now. Secondly the thickness of the phone is little more than it should be

For those of you that are asking:
1. This is not a phone but a UMPC with phone function. Google for UMPC or Origami to know.
2. You will not use this as your desktop PC but your mobile companion to read your mails, surf the web and take your calls.
3. You will not install Battlefield2 on this, but your basic office software.
4. You will load it with all your movies and MP3 files to kill those awfull waiting moments.
5. You will not hold it to your head but always use a bluetooth headset to received and make calls. A stereo headset is a must.
6. You will be able to connect an external usb keyboard and monitor to write that long mail, or documents.
7. You will not put this in your pocket but in a sleeve with a wrist wrap.
8. You will not shutdown this device, but always put it to Sleep. Vista resumes sleep in 2 seconds.
8. This is meant for managers, lawyers, doctors, geeks-on-the-run, and students with rich parents ;-))
If you want a phone, please go look somewhere else, this is the device that we mobile warriors have been waiting for. My only fear is that the price that will be a murder! I hope others will follow HTC with a hybrid device like this, competition is good for the enduser's money.

I think that this is more of a second-sim-card-for-browsing kind of a computer. I mean it's huge for a phone, but looks like something that an executive would buy a second sim card and plan for, so that s/he can have mobile internet wherever s/he goes.
As far as DVD players/etc go, this has to be a light and portable device, and since it has USB and BT you will be able to connect pretty much anything to it anyway. Plus there might even be a proprietary slot for things like that.

30mm thick? Hooo.. It's not like a phone. Look like your carry a laptop put it near your ears and talk. The weight won't less than 500g and the battery for working time won't much than 3h, it'll ask for a charger soon. Better by a 8" laptop and a 3g phone. So u won't ashame while u've phone calls :).
