I just got my phone today. It was shipped from Taiwan. Upon receiving it, I thought I could change the main language to English, however I am finding incredibly hard to do so. It only lets me change the country for the phone, but that's about it. I've emailed HTC about the problem and have no heard back from them. Just wondering if anybody knows how to change the main language from Chinese to English. .. . because at this moment in time, I can't even use it! =(

All those who bought Diamond, you must appreciate that you didn't buy Omnia. The touch response sucks and the touch is mor than touch...you have to press a bit harder at times.

What I myself would like to know is When the North American version with GSM 850 and HSDPA 850/1900 is going to be available. I need to get back to a device with a true smartphone OS. My Nokia N95-4 is a stellar device but there are certain apps that make my life a hell of a lot better that run on WinMo and even the Palm OS.

This phone has unforgivable issues. First of all, its sluggish touch UI. For its price, you would expect a better performing phone. Another is its erratic behavior. Waking it up from its sleep mode is fine, but then as soon as you tap on "contacts", the screen blanks out and it re-launches touchflo, and then sends you back to the home screen, and after that, its fine again. Last night for the first time, the screen just went all white and froze, and I had to press the reset button. First reset was unsuccessful. The phone turned on but was not responding to anything, so I had to do another reset, and it was fine. It's a cool looking phone with wonderful features, and a beautiful display, but I don't know how long I can deal with its erratic performance. And oh btw, that glass display that's supposed to be tempered glass and scratch-resistant, it gets scratches EASILY. I can't wait for Meizu Minione to come out so I could replace this phone.

Did you really know how to handle this phne?? Don't think so. The battery needs at least 5 to 6 full chargings to receive full power. I use it as a buniness phone with push mail - the battery runs for nearly 2 days with many calls and emails.

Try to get used to it and it performs very good. Problems may occure if you are using the browser running wifi and UMTS... just close the one or other and it is fine. If you use T9 it's fast for writing mails and SMS. If you have probelms with the battery just deactivate UMTS and it lasts longer...

You need to get used to and then it is really fine... keep on with teh good work HTC!!

I use this phone now for more than 2 weeks and if you know how to handle a WinMobile - GO for it... and to compare it with iphone - which my son is using - if you know how to use diamond you never will touch the iphone... my opinion!

Dear GSM Arena, kindly take all the positive and negative comments as posted on your site and send a copy to HTC,

Certainly seems that NO ONE at HTC is even trying to address the obvious issues with the device.

which is a shame.

A sincere word of advice to equiment manufacturers, beta testers should be power users, not gadget geeks / freaks who experiene bladder retention problems every time they hear news of the impending launch of a new device !!!

> In reply to drt @ 2008-07-16 16:03 from M8T2well, ask htc why..
i don't know the reason.

but this phone have potential, the hardware is unquestionable i think, what it lack is the software performance and battery life..

but still, u can boost the perfomance by yourself..
and about the battery life, htc come up with a bigger battery, u can find the article on gsmarena.

the thing that makes me buy it, beside it's pros and cons is the support of xda-dev that allow me to maximize it's potential, and i don't mind spend my time to tweak my device (coz i pay much on it)..
but not all people is like me.

so the CHOICE IS YOURS..

i just don't get it when people said it is rubbish or anykind of that.

nothing perfect bro, but atleast this phone ALLOWS you to make it perfect(on your own description of perfect)..
unlike the other phone i've known so far.

> In reply to ram c @ 2008-07-17 01:21 from mXJbi don't know whether you have polish it or not (upgrade firmware + do a little tweak)..

and yes i just have it for 2 days.

ok, i think i can assume it like this.

there are 2 type of consumer :
1. who just want to be satisfied with what the manufacture give coz they HAVE SPENT THEIR MONEY FOR IT. if the product from the manufacture didn't meet their expectation, then they will curse the product and throw it away.

2. who don't JUST get satisfied with what the manufacture give, and want to do the tweaking himself to make the product meet his OWN expectation , and don't bother to give some effort on it.

before buying this diamond, i ALREADY read all the review.. YES, it have many complaint on its performance.
BUT then, i know there is a SOLUTION ON IT from the xda-developers (even htc has release the firmware to fix it) ..
so i just bought it with HIGH PRICE TOO, coz i know this thing CAN shine (it have the capability).
and yes, it's not shining from the first time you take it from the box, coz htc didn't make it shine YET.
and YOU must make it shine yourself..

remember : hardware can't be changed but software can. but not all the phone allows the software to be changed, htc diamond allows it.

so it's up to you whether you want to spent your money on it or not...

no offence.
just want to share my opinions.
:)

> In reply to mark2jag @ 2008-07-16 19:10 from nxT0i would like to response mark2jag's comment on my personal behalf, since i don't have that experience with my diamond (ROM ver. 1.37.707.1 wwe ; radio : 1.00.25.05 ; protocol : 52.29.25.12u).

1. initial startup, i don't think it's correct to use the word "extreme" coz it's not (at least not on mine). maybe it's slow, but it slowness is reasonable.

2. speed : yes, it is slow, all review from the website say it's slow from the box. BUT NOT after u upgrade the firmware and do a little tweak on it.

3. responsiveness : it's much better after you upgrade the firmware and do a little tweak on it.

4. bluetooth : sorry i don't understand the "parrot" thing, so no comment on it, but at least it worked fine, so no problem on bluetooth.

5. i can't agree with that completely even sometimes i exp it too, but it's just because u're not used to it yet.

and the last, u said u just have it for one day (correct ?) , so i assume u have not upgrade the firmware yet..
in the other word, you haven't polish ur diamond yet.

it have stylus because it's hard to type on it with your thumbs (i'm not getting used to it yet), also for the handwriting recog maybe?

it's up to you whether you want it or not, but in my opinions, it's worth to buy.
many feature in it.
so i won't tell you to avoid it nor will i tell you to buy it. i just want to share my opinion after taste it for 2 days only (after upgrade the firmware and do a little tweak on it).
