I'd like to start by saying this is a personal opInion and you are quite within your rights to ignore completely any of the comments im about to make regarding the HTC TOUCH DIAMOND.
lets start at the beginning.
1. Initial startup.
This was extremely slow and took what seemed forever to sort its life out.
I found this phone to be extremely slow from the box (even after the version upgrade!!) With no applications running i was surprised at how sloooooow it really is.
It is a touch screen and as such i expected to be able to finger scroll and for it to stop on the icon of my choice so that I could then go deeper into the chosen menu and do what i needed to do.
Sorry to say this is not the case. You scroll across the screen and the menus zoom off into the distance and stop on the last menu, so you realise you've scrolled too far and try to go back again. Sometimes this works and sometimes it definitely doesnt. If you persist with it then you will eventually get to what you want, but if you want it to be 100% acurate then I'm sorry to say you're looking at the wrong phone.
4. Bluetooth compatibility with Parrot Bluetooth devices. THERE ISNT ANY SO IF YOU INTEND BUYING THIS PHONE AND INTEND TO USE IT WITH A PARROT CAR KIT (IN MY CASE AN MK6100)THEN YOU CAN'T!!! (vodafone knew about this all along but did not see fit to tell new purchasers about it, how nice, and thank you VODAFONE!!!!.....
5. Transition from Touch Flo3D to normal windows icons. TouchFlo is a brilliant idea, but I'm somewhat dissapointed that when you do get into some of the menus having used Touchflo, it then reverts to the TINY icons which are very user unfriendly and definitely not something you could select simply by using your finger, unless you have very tiny digits or dont mind making several attempts to hit the proper key required.
I will freely admit that I have only had this phone for one day but it doesn't make any difference. It's hardly gonna improve with age is it (It's not a bottle of wine after all!!) The phone is due to be collected by Vodafone tomorrow and frankly I will not be sad to see the back of it. If you want a fast responsive phone that you don't have to use the stylus on then I would sum up with just 3 words.....
AVOID AVOID AVOID
ksra, 16 Jul 2008absolutely agree with k. just bought it yesterday, and go to xda-dev forum right away to upgr... moreWhat is a point of producing a phone that must be fixed before it is used? Why doesn't the manafacturer fix it before selling it?

Matt, 15 Jul 2008I don't get why everyone is complaining about this phone. I upgraded to the Diamond from a Nok... moreCan we use 3g speedy network in pc as dial up connection?Just like we can use nokia as dial up connection in pc.
Samsung Omnia is better tahn this phone in so many ways, much better,
I don't get why everyone is complaining about this phone. I upgraded to the Diamond from a Nokia N95 and I love it.
Ok, it can be a little slow, but its no where near as bad as people are making out, I think GSM Arena also say in their review. Compared to the N95, the camera is obviously not as good or is the speaker or phone call quality, but everything else is superior.
The only thing I've had trouble with is using the gesture system on the touch screen, but this is getting better as I get use to it.
The screen on this device is brilliant. I was unsure whether having VGA on a 2.8' screen was such a good idea, but it really looks amazing.
anybody already worked with Diamond GPS?
it works like a car GPS?
like GARMIN, MEGAFORCE, others
In the VodafoneUK warehouse today, should run better than the Orange version. Only time will tell but it looks like a nice phone!
Anonymous, 14 Jul 2008as htc name says, it is ''Hard To Connect'' (HTC)Hahahahhahaha that's a good one!
New improved Comm Manager for Diamond:
I had the diamond for 5 days and I find it to be a very decent phone. There are a whole bunch of customizations you can do to it to improve the performance such as updating the rom and tweaking some areas. Also the battery is really not all that bad, mine holds the charge for a full day with medium usage with wi-fi off of course. Also you guys should turn off the beam to your phones to always being on to being off. The only down side to this phone is the screen going black during a phone call but I'm sure future rom updates will address the issue.
