I have had the TyTN for some months now and love it. However, today it stopped picking up a mobile network. It simply searches, but cannot find any. I switch SIM cards all the time, as I travel frequently, but none of my cards work now. Perhaps I have worn out the SIM card reader? Has anyone experienced a similar problem? I tried a hard reset, but it still does not work :(

To Jan:
Your problem is not unique. This occurs in most HTC manufactured sliders (including I-Mate's Jasjam). A Taiwan-based website provided very detailed information about this failure and the root cause is a faulty ribbon connector between the screen (the slider) and the body. Apparently, after constant use, the connector ribbon gets pinched and causes all kinds of problems, including stylus entry failure.
Welcome to the disatisfied-in-HTC club. My Jasjam (I-Mate) I recently purchased is still in warranty repair for similar reasons.

To Jan.
I had the same problem and also bad wifi receiver. I turned it back and my new one works perfectly. If you can't give it back you can do the following:once you keep it in your hands press for a few seconds with your fingers the front panel, above the buttons "start" and "ok".
The problem is getting fixed for a while, but it appears again after some use.It is quite annoying.

Why is the Dopod version of this TyTN, the Dopod 838 Pro so much more expensive ($850-$1,000)?

I just wanted to know if you are able to type text using the QWERTY keyboard with only 1 hand??? I really like everything about this device but I sometimes hate the hassle of having to tap the screen or slide the keypad & have to use 2 hands just to type 1 word (I'm always on the go). I know you might tell me to not get a SLIDE phone/pda but I have to have all the specs of this device, plus I like the design & all.
One other thing; can anybody post a picture taken from this pda?
Also, how's the quality of the LCD? I dont know if I like the 65K colors...is the LCD sharp?!
PLEASE I need a response from a user of this PDA.

Are you kidding....? The wireless headphones and GPS depend on the bluetooth technology to connect... if you switch the bluetooth of, well, no more connection...?

Hey guys, does anyone have the same problem that the wireless headphone and wireless gps receiver stops working after switch off bluetooth. Oh well, simply amazing really how this huge 1350 mAh battery life can happily last longer on those energetic 3g connections than on that lazy old 2g dog. Pity the poor saps stuck on cheap old 2g technology in their neighbourhoods and who get suckered into buying larger batteries.
