The phone itself is perfectly fine. But it's like Huawei went: "Hey, let's build this awesome phone with really good specs... and do everything we can to slow it down and install a ton of unnecessary crap on it and put a ridiculously stupid launcher as it's stock launcher". The biggest problems with this phone is the crap installed on it that you can't get rid of, and the terrible stock launcher. Huawei's stock apps kill this phone's performance, and the lack of support by Huawei sucks. I would still definitely recommend it though. I've had it for just over a year now and at first I installed a custom launcher to sort out the crappy one Huawei gives you. Then after a while I noticed the phone's performance was really no good for the specs it had, so I rooted it and installed a custom ROM. I am in no way encouraging you to do so as it could brick (make your phone completely unusable) your phone, but it worked for me and really breathed life into the phone.
The most useless phone I've used!

Lag is from launcher. Install another launcher and you'll be fine.

Good phone. Had it for a year then got a new one. Kept it as a backup phone. When I lost my newer one, I was back to this one. Its good, it lags a lot which does annoy me, the camera is good for occasional pictures, nothing fancy. I like the flexible plastic back.
My Ascend 300 worked fine for two years but I only do email and Twitter or Instagram. Battery pretty decent as it will last all day on one charge and I use it a lot. Got a good price at Best Buy and it was very easy to unlock as the company will send you all the necessary codes (does take a long time to receive). Used it overseas no problem. Wifi a bit flaky lately and yes the ROM is ridiculous small when you are stuck with all those useless apps you cant park on sd card or get rid of. Yes I know about rooting and flashing but not comfortable doing it. Now the cable will not charge battery anymore. Must be a pin cracked or broken inside. I did manage to charge it once after plugging cable in phone 20 times but this time no go. I did buy a cheap universal battery charger online which will take a month to get here. Feeling like maybe I should move on to a Moto G second generation or ...?

Anonymous, 19 Aug 2015I can't access my contacts,it says contacts have stoppedYou should put your Contacts into your Google / GMail Contacts account, if they aren't already there. That way they'll never be lost permanently on any phone you have, even if they temporarily don't load.
If they are in your Google a/c already, then delete the account from your phone / clear phone & app cache, and reload the account. Your contact should be re-populated to the phone's contact / people list/s.

Nothing no boot up no charge nothing. It just packed up.. didn't even get chance to make a back up of bookmarks etc.. for last couple of months. Well annoying.!!!
Cheap in the year 2013, limited hardware but ok. What you pay is what you get.
The most annoying thing is that Huawei never updated the android system to some newer versions of android, event though some devs could build working lollipop roms.
Nevertheless heartbleed bug was fixed quickly. The bugfix for the stagefright vulnerability is not out yet. So using an Y300 at the moment means high risk of beeing hacked. Huawei announced to be working on the problem, but keep working harder, I want to use my 22 month old phone again.
Huawei y300 after 1 year use.
There is nothing wrong with the hardware of the phone , works pretty well even after a year use , though I have to say the battery has become weak..(I don't complain much cause I'm a heavy user) The phone performance however it's very disgusting ......its very laggy , practically impossible to play games on the device , only simple apps can be used with flexibility.... (It is practically impossible to use Google chrome on this device again) opening up an app can take up to 8-10 seconds!
The system memory becomes obnoxious only a handful of apps . To make things worse this version of Android doesn't readily allow transfer of apps between the phone and memory card . ......basically this phone is very outdated , you don't get to enjoy the real taste of smartphone with y300
